Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

HOMES ME!! We are in the process of buying a new home right now and I am actually looking forward to having a fireplace. Having a fireplace was never on my wish list but decorating for the holidays this year has made me really look forward to hanging stockings on our fireplace next year. And snuggling up next to the fire with hot chocolate and a book sounds amazing too!

    HOMES ME!

I have a dog and a cat. So I want a big fenced yard for the puppy to go bathroom and a big laundry room so I can tuck the litterbox away for the cat to go bathroom. Is it lame that I think about this first? I just think it’s gross and if the impact of it all can be minimized I’ll live in a happier (and fresh smelling) home!

HOMES ME! Location will always be #1 for me, I need a walkable, livable neighborhood where I don’t need to drive for a large portion of my trips.

But since that’s a long way off, for now I’ll settle for my next apt to have more direct sun. I get almost none in my current place- maybe 30 minutes per day and it’s so depressing!

Our current house is on a very visible street with some traffic (not too bad, but could be less), so our wish for our next house is more privacy. We want to be tucked into the neighborhood.

    Homes me!

I am still apartment dwelling so there are so many things:

    1. Windows – on all sides!
    2. Outdoor space. I dont care if its rolling acres or just a little terrace. I want my OWN outside that’s just for me.
    3. Either a detached house, or thick thick walls. I dream of a day when my baby doesn’t wake from his nap because the person next to me’s dog goes crazy because the person across from me got a package and the UPS guy knocked on the door.
    4. I want to paint. I dream of paint. I know you can paint apartment walls if you paint them back before you leave but UGH.

I’m sure you can relate after your years in NYC!

Would love a yard! (A luxury here in L.A.) Also in-unit washer/dryer (another luxury) and a garbage disposal and dishwasher. It’s amazing how quickly you miss the disposal and dishwasher if you don’t have them, but I don’t recommend trying.
