Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    “HOMES ME!”

If I was to buy another house, I’d want a larger yard with a swimming pool. You have to have a pool in Las Vegas.

    HOMES ME!

If I went house shopping right now, I would definitely be looking for a nice big kitchen. Baking is a lot easier with some elbow room! Of course, as it’s getting colder, a fireplace is creeping up towards the top of the list too. Maybe a fireplace in the kitchen…

A must have on our next house is a basement! We are tired of parking in the driveway because our garage is our storage space. Plus we live in Kansas so every time the tornado sirens go off I curse the fact that we don’t have a basement and then pray that our little bathroom will keep us safe! Of course we have a lot of other things on our wants list for our next house, but a basement is an absolute must!

We sold our home and moved back to our home town. We are living with my in-laws and are hoping our dream house comes on the market this spring. My must haves are a formal entryway and dinning room. My husbands are a big basement and backyard.

A must have. Hmm. We live in a cosy 320 square foot place. Right now, we must have tiny things. Must have, must have… Seriously, I need big yard! Small house, big yard. That’s where it’s at.

We recently saved up and bought a house we hope to be in for a very long time. We love it and it’s almost exactly what we wanted, but the one thing I had to drop from my “must have” list was being on a cul-de-sac.

I AM buying a new house today! Just signed the offer papers! It’s my husband and I’s first home, and the number one thing we looked for (after touring 50+ homes) was proximity to the city, and our friends.

HOMES ME! We’d love to have a second bedroom. And storage. And outdoor space (we live in an apartment building with no balcony). But honestly, we rent right now so owning a home, even one exactly the same as what we have now, would be awesome! It’s just so stinkin’ expensive in the Boston area…
