Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    “HOMES ME!”

We love our house, so the next one really has to have EXACTLY what I want to get me to move. This includes a 2-car garage, a master and guest bath, and storage space. My wish list also includes a pool or lakefront.

    Homes Me!

Um, can I have my exact home, in my current neighborhood, but with gas as an option in the kitchen? That was the one thing on our list that we didn’t get with this house, and it is a real bummer since we cook so much! Well, we also wanted double ovens, but that is fixable. The gas? Not so much. We had hopes, since the house does have gas lines for the water heater and fireplace, but our plumber just laughed when we asked for a ballpark estimate in running a gas line to the kitchen.

Energy efficiency!! We just moved to a large house with a hot zone and a cold zone. It is in AZ and our hot zone is in the kitchen so summer cooking is almost impossible.

We LOVE our current house, so the list of things that I would require in order to want to move is very long. But at the very top of the list is that it would have to have more than 2 bedrooms, so that we can have more than one kid!

    HOMES ME!

I would LOVE a house with a large kitchen. My current one is teeny tiny and it’s my favorite place to be (plus I own many, many items for the sake of baking and cooking things for people I love…and most of them are tucked away in boxes and bins in closets to be pulled out when needed…not ideal!)

I’m ACTUALLY in the process of closing on a new home! The must have on my list was great entertaining space where people could chat with us while we cook. My husband and I love to cook and entertain at home (partly because we’re lazy and don’t like to leave the house, and partly because food snobs and like to be in charge of the food) so it was a deal breaker with a bunch of properties we looked at. Luckily we found one that worked for us :)
