Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! My must have would definitely be location. We live in a condo now, and love how close we are to Metro, and that we can walk to local shops and restaurants. Though buying home means we will need to get out a little further from the city due to budget, a big priority will be the location, and hopefully have a great walkability feature- whether it’s parks, shops, schools, restaurants, public transit, or, in an ideal world, ALL those things!

HOMES ME!!! Top of my list would be three bedrooms on one floor. We live in a very charming 1950’s 1 1/2 story currently, and the second floor is the master bedroom with a sitting room off of it that currently acts as our nursery. No doors in between. So, we’ve been sharing a bedroom with our 15 month old since day 1 – makes it a little difficult to get on with the making of a second child. :)

    “HOMES ME!” Please :)

We just bought a house in June, but if I were to change anything, it would be adding a third bathroom into the mix. Preferably one with a jetted tub, since our master only has a shower.

I would have to say for me, it’s location, location, location! I want to be able to walk to places, like the bank, the grocery store, ect. Plus a parking spot so I can park my car. And a balcony or back yard so I have some outdoor space.

HOMES ME! We just moved, so I’m thinking the NEXT house won’t be for at least 20 years. But, my next home needs a ginormous mud room. I get so envious of all the mud room pins I see, and I have a teeny combined mud room/laundry room!

This sounds silly, but I’d love to have a grocery store along the route of my commute home from work. It wouldn’t be such a hassle to get that last-minute ingredient if the store was on the way home!
