My favorite picture of myself is not “myself” in the picture. But the context of the photo. I was a tired college student taking a year leave from school and working away in Europe. In the picture I have a backback and was about to embark on a solo 3-week backpacking journey around Europe – a dream that finally came true in 2001. Every time I look at myself in the picture, even though I had super dark circles around my eyes and shaggy clothes, it makes me smile because I was the happiest I’ve been in a long long time!

My favorite picture of myself is actually of me and my husband. It was taken at dinner on vacation. We were all dressed up and enjoying ourselves and goofing around at at the last second I turned toward him smiling and he looked at me with his eyebrows raised – the picture captured us perfectly. The photographer was all annoyed and actually said we messed up the shot but I think the guy has it all wrong – I look good and happy and I smile every time I see it.
