My favorite photo of myself is actually one from a couple years ago. In 2011, I went to Ethiopia for work. We stopped at an AIDS Orphanage to spend some time with the children there. I was holding hands with one of the little girls twirling her around in circles. The photographer on the trip happened to capture the moment at just the right time…mid-twirl, big smiles on both our faces.
I love the photo because it reminds me that joy and hope can always be found, even in the midst of devastating circumstances. It also reminds me that it doesn’t take much to brighten someone else’s world and help them forget about those circumstances, even if it is only for a moment.
