Fab Freebie: Love Is Blinds

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:

NextDayBlinds Image 1

This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).

NextDayBlinds Image 2

Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Next Day Blinds.

BLIND ME! I have a window that looks right into our master bedroom from the neighbor’s upstairs window. I’m sure they’ve seen my nakedness many times – blinds would be great!

I have plenty of large windows that desperately need covering!! We bought a new house recently and have more windows than we know what to do with. I’m just struggling to find the right stuff, so pick me! pick me!

We also have a third bedroom which is a guestroom/office/sewing room so I need to cover our closet opening that houses an unsightly computer, printer and sewing machine.

We live in an urban area where the houses are VERY close together. The only way to have some privacy is to keep the blinds closed all the time, but it makes it feel like we’re living in a cave. I would love to get some top down blinds so we can let the sun shine in without our neighbors seeing in the bathroom window!

We have a modern house and we tried to convince ourselves that we did not need to cover up the windows…until… we recently had someone staying in our home for a long weekend while we were away. A neighbor across the street informed us of the goings on inside as he watched the house with binoculars…please Blind ME!

We have a large window in our downstairs theater room that opens sideways, from right to left. There are ugly white vertical blinds that do not filter the light well at all, so we cannot use the room as a theater during the day (it is best if the room is pitch black). I would love to get some nicer blinds and curtains that serve this purpose!

Since we live in a garden home, we’re right next to two other houses. While our house backs up to the woods, the windows on the side definitely need to be covered… otherwise, we’re all looking straight into each other’s home.

BLIND ME! We live on a city lot where our neighbors – on either side – are only 4 feet away. I have covered one of our two kitchen windows because it looks directly into the neighbor’s kitchen. We’re friendly and all, but I don’t need to see what kind of tea she’s making. The window coverings are from 5 yrs ago and certainly in need of an update! Thanks!

The new house I’m buying has almost floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room. The natural light is lovely during the day, but at night being so exposed to all that darkness is scary. Also, I’d like to shield my new neighbors from my tendency to walk naked to and from the shower.

Blind me! Our last apartment building had a mirror-image building facing ours with an alleyway between them. Our bathroom window and the neighbor’s bathroom window were exactly across from each other, with just a few feet in between. Our windows were frosted glass, but in the summer it was so stifling hot that we just had to open them. We could see — and hear — everything that went on in the neighbor’s bathroom. And I guess they could say the same for us. Like good New Yorkers, though, we all just pretended the others didn’t exist!

BLIND ME – I desperately need blinds for our family room window, which faces the street – we did nice sheer curtains and wanted to put up bamboo blinds ala Casa Petersik, but it seems that the standard size does not fit our window!
