Fab Freebie: Maine Attractions

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

It’s a shame we can’t take any major road trips right now (thanks to our wee one) since this week’s giveaway has us itching to head north to Kennebunkport, Maine. That’s because Spaces Kennebunkport– the shop behind today’s prize- embodies just the type of comfortable seaside home accents that Sherry and I love. Never mind that we can barely spell the name… we still want to eat up everything in their store. Have no fear if you also can’t make it out to K-town. Spaces Kennebunkport has an awesome online shop and one of you is gonna win a $150 gift certificate to spend there. Score.

Kenne Four Grid

And not that we’re in the business of telling people how to spend their prize money, but here are some things we would totally snag for ourselves:

Kenne Our Picks

Wanna take home some of this beachy bliss? Here’s how to enter this week’s Fab Freebie (oh, and stay tuned for a discount code this Thursday):

  • PRIZE: $150 toward anything in Spaces Kennebunkport’s shop
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MAINE ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since our giveaway sponsors reside in a fairly uniquely-named town, we’d love to know of any unique / weird / funny city names that you live in, have visited, or have noticed on a map (i.e. Love, VA; Bummerville, CA; Sweet Lips, TN)
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Find more freebie info on our Giveaway FAQs page. Pics courtesy of Spaces Kennebunkport.

    Maine me!

Hmmmm. I don’t think I have ever been some where with a great name. I’m from a place called Maple Grove and when I was growing up people always asked if it was where Little House on the Prairie took place… Nope it was just a regular suburb.

My home town’s name isn’t very interesting (South Amboy, NJ), but the fact that we were in the Guiness Book of World Records at one point for the “Most Bars in 1 square mile” is pretty interesting I think!

    Maine ME!!!

I have lived in two cities that, although quite well known, no one seems to know how to spell: Tucson (mispronounced Tuck-son or spelled Tuson) and Albuquerque (always misspelled). Some fun towns I’ve driven through: Strawberry, AZ; Bumblebee, AZ; Nutt, NM; and Elephant Butte, NM. Funny and cute!

Washington place names aren’t all that funny (except maybe Walla Walla) but it’s a hoot to hear visitors try to pronounce places like Puyallup.

I spent two summers out in Washington, but being from Virginia (holla), I was confused on the pronunciation of many places. Puyallup (Pew-all-up) always sounded like Pull-y’all-up in my head! Much to the disdain of the locals…

I grew up in Québec, Canada and that province sure has it’s share of “unique” names. I remember as a kid driving to Abitibi-Témiscamingue (pronounced Abi-ti-bi-tay-miss-ka-man-gue) to visit friends or going up to the cottage in Memphrémagog (pronounced Mum-ph-may-gog).

    No Name, Co
I drive by it on my way to Moab, UT every year from Denver. If you Google it this is what you find out about it-
No Name is an unincorporated community in Colorado. It is located east of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, off exit 119 of Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon. It is named for No Name Creek and No Name Canyon. The No Name Tunnel of I-70 is nearby. Happy Memorial Day!!

Saugatuck, Manistee, Mackinac Island (pronounced mack-i-naw) just to name a few…

But the weirdest I’ve driven through is Thumbs, West Virginia.
