Fab Freebie: Maine Attractions

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

It’s a shame we can’t take any major road trips right now (thanks to our wee one) since this week’s giveaway has us itching to head north to Kennebunkport, Maine. That’s because Spaces Kennebunkport– the shop behind today’s prize- embodies just the type of comfortable seaside home accents that Sherry and I love. Never mind that we can barely spell the name… we still want to eat up everything in their store. Have no fear if you also can’t make it out to K-town. Spaces Kennebunkport has an awesome online shop and one of you is gonna win a $150 gift certificate to spend there. Score.

Kenne Four Grid

And not that we’re in the business of telling people how to spend their prize money, but here are some things we would totally snag for ourselves:

Kenne Our Picks

Wanna take home some of this beachy bliss? Here’s how to enter this week’s Fab Freebie (oh, and stay tuned for a discount code this Thursday):

  • PRIZE: $150 toward anything in Spaces Kennebunkport’s shop
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MAINE ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since our giveaway sponsors reside in a fairly uniquely-named town, we’d love to know of any unique / weird / funny city names that you live in, have visited, or have noticed on a map (i.e. Love, VA; Bummerville, CA; Sweet Lips, TN)
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Find more freebie info on our Giveaway FAQs page. Pics courtesy of Spaces Kennebunkport.

I’ve always enjoyed Intercourse, PA for being a silly name, and also Ronkonkomo, NY, for just being fun to say.

    Congrats on the baby!

    Maine me!

Funny names? Sure, I’ve got your funny names. We drove past Lizard Lick in North Carolina often enough to qualify. But I think where I live now (relatively near Hell, Michigan), while not lol-worthy, are seriously bizarre. I live in Saline, but it’s pronounced all fancy, like Celine Dion’s first name. But we’re ten minutes north of Milan… which is pronounced like some sort of pharmaceutical. “When your saline levels are too high, take Mylin.”

Also, while poring over Google maps to locate the cemetery where my grandparents are buried, I came across a marking for “Rainbow Bend.” I just HAD to know what that was. It was… a hayfield. No houses in sight. I have no idea how a hayfield got the Muppet-worthy name of Rainbow Bend. Michigan has a lot of lumber ghost towns, but usually there’s some remnant–a cluster of houses, a store, *something*. But not at Rainbow Bend, whatever the heck that is!

Maine Me!! I grew up in Maine and miss it soooooo much. Kennebunkport is part of my old stomping grounds from many moons ago. Fortunately, I’m headed there and to the Kennebunkport region in 3 wks to visit family.

We used to live near Belchertown, MA. My husband would always, always have to belch out the name as we drove through. Sorry, it’s a man thing.

I live in New Mexico, home to Truth or Consequences. And the town I live in always gets pronounced wrong by people from other states. It’s spanish and the J in the name is pronounced with an H sound, which many people don’t do.

I can’t think of any weird city names, but my husband is from Cleveland, Ohio and then he went to (and we met) at a college in Cleveland, TN. [Older] people always think it is the funniest thing that he went from living in one Cleveland to another. We don’t really think it is funny but we laugh and humor them and talk about what a coincidence it is!
