Fab Freebie: More Than Words

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below (along with some sweet discounts)!***

Before we announce our winners, let’s first get to two consolation prizes: discounts! Get 15% off your WordGarden order with code YoungHouseLove15 and get 15% off of your Everywhere We Look order with code YHL15.

As for our two winners, random.org has selected… Leah (who “definitely” loves typographic art) and Rebecca A. (who loves books and typographic art – which seemed to be a trend). Congrats ladies!

This week’s pair of prizes (for a pair of winners, no less) come from two Etsy sellers who have a way with words. Namely, they turn the written word into stylish pieces for your home. The first of which, WordGarden, takes text and graphics to give simple pillows a chic European flair – from bicycles and birdcages to his and hers sets. And two of you will be scoring a pair of pillows in any size and any design.

Word Garden Pillows

The other half of this week’s prize comes from Everywhere We Look, who creates book page wreaths that could be right out of Anthropologie. And each of this week’s winners will get a large-sized wreath (i.e over 250 pages turned into a 21″ wreath) that’s custom made just for them.

Everywhere We Look Wreath

  • PRIZE: Two pillows of any size from WordGarden and a large custom wreath from Everywhere We Look
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us what form you particularly love seeing words take? Are you a sucker for typographic art (like me)? Have you never met a funny t-shirt or bumper sticker that you didn’t like? Do song lyrics do it for you? Or are you a traditionalist and simply love words in books, poems, and love notes?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from WordGarden and Everywhere We Look.

I love fonts. I love playing with fonts. I love switching fonts. and lyrics. so. many. lyrics. quotes from books.

…and in all of my nerdiness, one of my favorite quotes from the new Harry Potter movie was about how greatly underestimated words are.

Word me! I’m such a nut for typography – I’ve made so many people watch “Helvetica,” it’s amazing anyone still wants to hang out with me. Choosing the right font for a project is truly an art.

We have two wall quotes that I absolutely love in our home. We have an excerpt from our 1st dance song at our wedding “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin and then “Always Kiss Me Goodnight” over our bed. I would definitely get more, but I’m starting to feel that 2 might be our limit!

I have to admit I think a lot of the word art in homes now runs to the corny side. I think words are the best in books, magazines, etc. – call me old skool, or the daughter of a librarian and journalist(both true). I think that is why I am so excited about the wreath! It is a book and art all in one and tastefully remains on the fun side of that line.

I’m a HUGE English Lit nerd. My favorite poet is e.e. cummings, and I love his unique use of unexpected words and punctuation. While everything he writes looks rather random, it’s all done with a purpose (which is something a random person like me can appreciate!).
