Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET!! Porter is a yellow lab, who didn’t quite make it as a guide dog. We adopted him at 9 weeks. One of the test they have to pass is to not eat food, left of the floor (it would be really bad if a guide dog ate of a blind persons plate!) Anyway, I don’t know if this makes Porter special but he is expensive. He will eat ANYTHING. Glass votives, cds, dvds, every pregnancy book I ever brought home (no other books or magazines?!), 6 ears of corn on the cob (nice holiday ER visit manually extracted after xrays), a rotisserie chicken off the counter, and countless sandwiches the kids have left on the counter. But we love him soooooo

I would love to get a picture of my cat Karl painted. He passed away last month at 19 years old (is that weird? lol) He was just such a character and a huge part of our family all these years. We liked to joke that he had flashbacks of his time in the Viet Nam war when he would randomly start attacking the walls and getting this look on his face, looking behind from the corners of his eyes, like he was hiding from the enemy and about to just jump out. We had so much fun with him around that would be a fun way to remember him :)

PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have both our dogs painted if possible. Pixel and Dolly are quite a pair…very different, but very complimentary. Pixel has the most personality I think a dog can have…and has a foot fetish. It’s very strange. Oh, and he gives hugs…one paw on either side of your neck while licking your earlobes…gross, I know.

PAINT MY PET! I’d love a painting of my Miniature Schnauzer, Samuel Francis. He pushes his food bowl all the way around the kitchen until it’s by the cabinet with his food. He gets really ticked whenever it’s not meal time and we ignore him. It’s cute and annoying at the same time.

Paint my pet border collie Peanut because I know she is really a human. She is 14 years old and so sweet and smart!! She must ride in the front seat of the car and loves without reservation my husband. You can sense her moods, such as when a suitcase appears at the backdoor she knows someone is leaving, she seems depressed. She is so happy when she hears a car door slam and knows the difference between my husband’s truck and everybody else.

My betta fish, Leonardo Da Fishy, was given to me as an anniversary present by my wonderful boyfriend. He’s had a few struggles (including the time the boyfriend found him lying on the floor for what must have been hours!), but he always seems to bounce back (and now has a lid on his tank).
