Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    CAKE ME!! I love Pumpkin Chiffon. It is a family receipe that is similar to pumpkin pie but with some added ingredients and mixed with homemade Cool Whip. Happy Thanksgiving!

    CAKE ME! I am a sucker for a good cupcake. But, my husband and I say ‘the best thing we have EVER eaten’ was a tres leches cake on our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic.

    CAKE ME! I have an amazing recipe for Texas sheet cake that is to die for…but also anything warm (brownie, cake, etc.) with vanilla ice cream on top is delish!

    Cake me! I will always and forever be dedicated to Tollhouse Cookie Pie. I’m making one for my cousin’s annual night-before-Thanksgiving Pie Party, and I’m making an extra to keep because I can only eat one piece at the pie party to not look crazy.

    Cake me! I make desserts for birthdays for about 30 people I work with. Last week we had homemade brownies with homemade marshmallow on top, so delicious! I also make a flourless cake that started out being for a gluten-free coworker and is now requested by several others that can eat gluten. My quick and easy every day staple though is my grandmother’s chocolate chip cookies. Everyone who has them loves them!

    I’m a simple girl. I love plain ol chocolate chip cookies. Occasionally I get fancy and mix in some white chocolate chips too.

    Cake me!!!

    Pumpkin sheet cake with cream cheese icing or gooey chocolate chip cookie cake right out of the oven with ice cream on top! YUM!

    CAKE ME!!! My favorite desert is my mom’s Rice Kripsie recipe, with peanut butter instead of marshmellows and chocolate on top, YUM!!!!

    CAKE ME!

    My all-time favorite dessert is creme brulee, which isn’t a classic baked dessert, but does spend some time baking in the oven. Around this time of year I like to make pumpkin creme brulee. It’s fantastic!

    My favorite baked dessert is apple pie right out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Carmel drizzle!! Yummy!

    CAKE ME! I love to bake and love lots of baked goods but I think what I bake the most is cookies. At Christmas time I carry on my mom’s tradition from when I was little and bake at least 3 or 4 different varieties to give out to friends (and keep for us too of course).

    CAKE ME! My fav baked desserts are my grandmothers Baked Alaska (does that count) and the coca-cola cake that is served here in Richmond at Garnett’s and the Roosevelt!

    I am obsessed with any kind of cupcake now, but the red velvet cheesecake from Magnolia bakery in NYC is right up there as well. To be quite honest there hasn’t been a baked good that I HAVEN’T taken kindly too! I have love for them all!

    Cake Me! My favorite dessert is my grandma’s fudge brownies. They don’t taste like your traditional brownie and are almost more dense/cake-like. Topped with fine sugar. They are delicious!
