Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I actually just wrote a little post about my son, to be due on May 29th. Not sure what category it falls under, but it’s meaningful to my husband and I.

I was an organizational freak as a child and I shared a room (and a bed) with my little sister who was the complete opposite. We had an invisible line down the middle of the room and my half was always spotless while hers was a disaster. I used to get in trouble for trying to clean her side of the room.

The biggest share moment to me will be within the next month– my long time boyfriend and I are graduating from college and moving into our first apartment. Scary and exciting! It’s going to be a big sharing eye-opener.

I shared a room with my big sister growing up. We also shared a king sized bed. You would think that would be big enough for two little girls, but we’d kick each other constantly saying, “You’re on MY side of the bed!” Happens in every family, I’m sure….

SHARE ME! I’m an only child, but when I would hang out with my younger cousins, and we would inevitably fight over each and every toy…their mom would set a timer for 15 minutes. OMG, hearing a timer go off always conjures up those memories of forced sharing!

SHARE ME! So embarrassing to admit, but my older brother and I shared a room when we were younger and slept in bunk beds. I was still going through a phase of bed-wetting and needless to say…he learned very quickly that is was NOT okay for me to sleep in the top bunk.

When our oldest kids were just over a year old, my best friend and I went away for our first shared mommy weekend. I made the mistake of not reading online reviews, and we ended up in a dingy motel in a seedy part of town – bullet holes in the door, dirty mattresses in the parking lot, you name it. Needless to say, we spent very little time at the motel on that trip.

Share me! Just this past weekend, I had to share a hotel room with a coworker in NYC. We had a long night out entertaining clients, so I was really tired and excited when we were finally getting to bed. Right before she dozed off, I thought to ask “Hey, you’re not like a crazy snorer are you?” to which she lied “no, not at all”. 30 seconds later, she’s sleeping like a corpse, snoriing louder than a human ever has. It was awful. Finally, at 5 am, I dragged the couch cushions into the bathroom, fully prepared to make myself a bed in there. But before settling into my bathroom floor nest, I decided to call a friend I had in the city (expecting her not to answer, considering the hour). Miraculously, she picked up, and allowed me to cab it to her place to sleep on the couch. Nightmare!

My fiance and I unknowingly shared a toothbruch the first 3 months we lived together. Only discovered this when I threw mine out and bought a new one and he yelled at me for throwing his toothbrush out. I make sure mine is pink and his is blue now.

Every time we are on a road trip and make a stop, my husband asks me if I want something to drink. I normally say no, and then just drink some of his. Finally, he started asking me “do you want something to drink, because you can’t have any of mine if you say no” …. but he still always lets me have a sip or two :) He’s a great sharer!

Share Me! When my brother and I were kids, we went hiking a lot and drove up to the mountains with our family. We would bicker a LOT to the point where my dad would get so annoyed and tell us to “sit on your hands!” Not sure what sitting on our hands did for our bickering, but we always had lines on our hands from the pattern on the backseat!

SHARE ME! When I started H.S, my dad was stationed in Korea for a year. We couldn’t go with him, so in order to save money (he was the President of The Penny Pincher Club)before he retired, my mom, my sister, and I lived in someone’s unfurnished basement! It was horrible to look at, but we had the most amazing times!!! LOL

Share Me… Growing up my brother and I had separate rooms that shared a wall and our beds were both against that wall. We thought it would be super cool to put a small door in that wall so we could talk to each other at night when we suppose to be going to bed. My parents didn’t seem to think it was such a good idea…

    “SHARE ME”

One Christmas holiday I was invited to my first “ball” so to speak. Not being a very girly person I was uncomfortable to say the least. When I started walking down the stairs in my gown my 5yr old son stood there with his mouth wide open and said “Mommy, you look like an angel!”

    I cried… alot!

SHARE ME! When I was little, I had a very excited Australian Shepard. She was the best dog, but was maybe a little too into our games…for example, when we were treating her like a sled dog one winter and trying to make her pull our sled, she ended up biting my sister’s scarf and pulling it–and her! My memory tells me that my sister turned blue and I was the hero, but my adult thought process tells me that it was probably not quite as dramatic.

A few years ago, two friends and I went for a little weekend getaway and decided to share a hotel room. We stayed up really late that night, and they both fell asleep before I did. Bad move on my part… All of a sudden, this ROAR was coming from somewhere in our hotel! I shot out of bed thinking there were drag racers in the hallway; there was soooooo much noise!!! (How they’d have gotten cars into the narrow space, I have no idea, but it was so late, I wasn’t thinking clearly…) It ended up actually being one of my friends in the opposite bed, snoring so loudly she kept me up for the rest of the night… iPod & headphones? No help. Cotton in the ears? Nada. I couldn’t believe she didn’t wake up every other person in the hotel, or even the state. She didn’t even wake up… No sleep for me, but she woke up fresh faced and bright-eyed from her “pleasent” rest. Needless to say, I’ve never shared a room with her since, nor do I ever intend to.

My DH and I recently started to carpool to work. I have a space in a secured lot, so I drive both of us. After work, he walks to my office and gets in my car. A thoughtful co-worker of mine saw him by my car and got concerned that he was trouble! And when we were leaving, the co-worker was driving away slowly because he was concerned. I felt bad that I hadn’t told him about my DH and I carpooling!

SHARE ME! When I was in 1st and 2nd grade, my two girl cousins and their parents moved into our tiny three bedroom ranch house (which five of us were already living in) for nine months. I previously had a bedroom to myself since I was the only girl, but once they moved in, the two girls bunked up in my room. And it was the BEST THING EVER for a little girl who had only had brothers. When we moved out they gave me a Jasmine Barbie Doll as a thank you gift for sharing my room with them. Best. Cousins. Ever.
