Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Our boys, 5 and 2, now share a room. Sure, they have their spats. But since they’ve been bunked together, it’s like No Bro Is Left Behind. They go to sleep at the same time and wake each other up in the morning. One of my favorite sounds in life is the two of them running down the hall to our room in the morning–after one has woken the other up.

When I think of sharing I think of the times I have been pregnant. There’s something about me + pregnancy that makes me very protective of my food… it was during those times that I learned the art of “food blocking” (moving an appendage in the way of a bite you are sharing with your husband in an attempt to block him from taking his standard monster bite). Yeah, I haven’t really lost my tendency to do that, even though it’s been over 2 years since our last baby was born. Haha!

I have 3 siblings and typically every year they get me on April fools. When we were younger my brother taped the school closing when it snowed and replayed it on April fools, he got us for a few minutes but it didn’t last. I am glad it fell on a Sunday this year. I think they forgot.

Growing up, my sister and I “shared” the chore of cleaning the bathroom…..mostly I cleaned, while she sang to herself in the mirror and came up with new hair styles :)

Every time I’ve traveled with my mother and had to share a room, I’ve been injured. When we stayed overnight in Knoxville after coming back from a wedding, I slipped in the shower and broke my toe in half — literally. When we went to Norfolk to see the Tall Ships, I incurred the mother of all pinched nerves. Same happened when we traveled to SC for my cousin’s wedding. Thankfully, no travel has been scheduled for a few years.

I had a dear friend who was pretty broke when she moved cross country for her dream job–near me. So after discussing it with my husband we invited her to stay with us until she got on her feet. We didn’t realize she had a horrible, squawking pet parrot. SIX MONTHS later she finally moved out–even though by month two we had expressed our displeasure with her pet and by month five we had a sit down discussion about how she really needed to find a place and move. It was a horrible experience–and the kicker is that after she moved and we had given her furniture to help furnish her apartment, helped her move and had given her a housewarming present she completely stopped talking to me. I thought she was a good friend. I’m still trying to get over my bitterness about it.

In happier news I am awaiting the happy yellow radio that you curated. I was so excited to see it for sale and make it my own:)

I was in Sephora looking at eye makeup a few years ago and a man approaches me. Very average looking middle aged man; jeans, loafers, plaid shirt, fleece vest. Asks if my stockings are french, and then asks where I got my shoes from… He then proceeds to take off an aforementioned loafer and it turns out he is wearing stockings and has pretty pink toenails.

SHARE ME….Growing up with a younger sister, I would often find my most prized possessions (clothing, of course) missing. It would never fail to see my sisters friends walking down the hall at school in an outfit just like the one that I had seemed to misplace. I wouldn’t exactly call it sharing when it was done unintenionally!!

I shared a room with my younger sister for most of our childhood. When I went off to college, I was worried that me and my roommate wouldn’t get along. When I told my mom this, she laughed and said – if I could share a room with my sister for all those years and nobody ever died, had a broken bone or black eye… and we didn’t ever have to divide the room in half, then I could share a room with anyone! She was right – all of my college roommates and I got along, and one roommate is such a good friend that she was my maid of honor at my wedding!

Share Me!!!! Growing up with an older sister I always was given my sisters clothes and clothes of older firends. So by the time I was old enough to start getting my own cothes my sister and I were both the same size….She would then always steal my clothes and wear them to school so even if I would wear them people still thought they were hers… She even got all of her senior pictures taken in all my clothes!!!! I now am very possesive of my clothes……

Share me! At one point in my still young life, I was sharing a UMBC dorm apartment (read: SMALL) with 5 guys (who are now my close friends) in a twin bed with my now-husband! Did I move out and spread my wings? Well, sort of. I share a townhouse with the love of my life and two of the guys I used to live with now rent from us. I used to cook, clean and otherwise pamper those boys (read: GROSS shower)! I’m happy to be down to 3 boys under one roof!

Hubs and I always share food/drink but I still get a little pouty when he takes big gulps of ‘expensive’ coffee drinks like caramel macchiatos (that I sip slowly and enjoy) – especially when he reveals, “it tastes OKAY.”

I just had to share a hotel room with my dad (with on bed). While he’s my dad, it was kind of strange especially since he’s remarried, I’m married, and we haven’t lived in the same house (much less shared a room) in a REALLY long time.

Growing up, my parents were foster parents. For a month, my sister and I slept head-to-foot on our top bunk bed while two foster sisters slept in the other beds in the room. Sharing a room was actually pretty fun.

I am the middle sister of three girls and we had absolutely no problem sharing… my older sister just didn’t know that she was sharing all of her clothes with me. After she left for school, I would sneak into her room and take her clothes and then return them before she returned home. She eventually found out and put a lock on her closet. :-/

SHARE ME. The first time meeting my soon to be mother-in-law I had to share a hotel room with her. My boyfriend and I were meeting her for a wedding out of town. I met my boyfriend after he made the hotel reservation at this small boutique hotel so they already had a reservation. Long story short- the hotel was sold out thus myself and boyfriend shared a room with my mother-in-law and her boyfriend. AWKWARD! She is super lovely but still… it was a bit uncomfortable.
