Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! One of my favorite stories is when my husband proposed. I love hearing his side of how it went down. My family went to dinner on Christmas Eve and my now husband came out dressed as a server with the ring on a lobster platter and proposed. It was funny listening to him talk about being in the back with the serving staff because my family ran late (as always) and they kept trying to get him to take shots.

I once had to share a room in Las Vegas at a conference with someone I did not know very well. Needless to say, at the time of our trip she was 2 months pregnant. She did everything Extremely loudly. She got sick loudly, brushed her teeth loudly, and talked on the phone loudly. There is a lot more to this story than I can share here.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

I used to share a room with my big sister growing up and every night before bed she’d pretend she was DJ on the radio and ask if anyone had requests or dedications. Then she’d sing whatever song I “requested.” Good times :-)

When I was in high school I discovered that a soda machine sitting outside our local chain retailer would dispense free soda if you firmly pushed the button a few times. When I told several friends this we collectively decided to go back to the store and load up his trunk with cans of free soda. Not too long after that I noticed a security camera had been installed and was now pointed directly at the soda machines. At times, I still feel guilty and I don’t know how we weren’t caught.

Here’s an OVERSHARING story! There are two women who work in my office building – and they bring their cell phone conversations INTO THE PUBLIC LADIES ROOM and continue talking while they (and anyone else in there) are going potty! Ugh. If you want to do it at your house – fine. But in a public restroom?? I don’t want a stranger hearing my business! Not something to share.

SHARE ME! Once when my husband and I were camping, we ended up “sharing” our tent with a small black bear. He thought we would like to try to get into our tent while we were sleeping in it! Fortunately, we woke up and yelled before he actually tore a hole in it (although he did manage to rip it later while we were hiking).

Being the wonderful elder sibling I am, I once opened the bathroom door and snapped a polaroid of my little brother in his underwear dancing in front of the mirror. I honestly don’t remember if I got in trouble but I do remember feeling bad about it later, cutting up the picture, and throwing it away.

I share my bed with my cat, Yoda. She will be 17 years old in a couple of days. I’ve had her since the day she was born (underneath my bed, on top of all my leotard and tights for dance!) when I was 9. For a small kitty, she takes up a large portion of the bed. I also spoil her and share my sushi with her sometimes, too.

I sort of tricked my husband into making homemade laundry detergent this weekend. He was doing laundry, and we ran out of the Method detergent we usually use. I really didn’t think that he would want to make his own detergent, but I casually mentioned that I had all the ingredients to make homemade detergent but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. So he did it himself! I’m turning him into a crunchy hippie!

SHARE ME! A bathroom related incident…when I was little I was playing on playground with friends. (I was like 6. Don’t judge at what’s to come.) One of my friends wanted to spider-swing. I said yes, we got on, and then promptly wet my pants. Super mortifying, but satisfies my “what’s your most embarassing moment” answer quite nicely.

My brother, sister and I, as kids, were in the back of my dad’s pickup truck as we were driving through a state park on vacation. He and my mom got very excited and told us to look out the back of the truck, cause a turtle was in the middle of the road.

Then we hear, “CRUNCH,” then “NEVERMIND!” Dad had miscalculated the turtle’s exact location and ran it over! When we looked out the back, it was just the bloody remnant of the shell. Of course we were completely devastated, but it makes for a good story to this day!

This weekend, i was holding a six pack of glass beers when the cardboard bottowhistled out. The glass bottles ended up shattering all over the floor, and my feet! No major cuts, thank goodness, but I had to have help getting all the small shards off my feet by the employees. The embarrassing part was that I had just ran a half marathon that morning, so my feet sported some gnarley blisters.
