Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! I grew up with 4 sisters (no brothers), so our 1930’s red brick, Pittsburgh home was overrun with girls and with all those girls, as long as my dad wasn’t home, privacy was pretty much thrown out the window. The two bathrooms upstairs shared a shower/tub in the middle that would open on both sides. When we were little and two of us had to use the bathroom at the same time, we would run for either bathroom, open the doors and talk. How weird were we!? hahahaha

There was a time in high school when I was at cross country camp (I know, super lame – spend a whole week running and training) and a bunch of us wanted to go jump in the lake after a long run. There was only one car, though – my friend Hope’s little shadow. So I ended up sharing the front seat with two guys I’d just met….all of us in our lovely sweaty we-just-ran-10-miles state.

My two older sisters (who are twins) and I used to have to share the backseat of a sedan on family road trips, even really long ones. They would tickle me and otherwise provoke laughter and shrieking until my parents had had enough and would make me sit on my mom’s lap in the front seat. Uncomfortable. They only admitted to this sneaky tactic a couple of years ago – and all this time I just thought I was really fun to play with on road trips! Womp womp.

I once had to share one bathroom with four female roommates my sophomore year at college. I can’t even count the number of times one of them would leave a curling iron plugged in accidentally for an entire day. Luckily, the house never burned down. Incidentally, I never lived with women again!

When I was a little kid, my dad’s side of the family had a cabin that he and his siblings (and their families) would take turns staying at in the summer. I remember there being a sign in the basement bathroom saying “Save water, shower with a friend.” There was almost always a giant spider waiting in there, which ssemed to bring new meaning to the sign.

When I was in college, I studied abroad in Italy. During one of the trips with my friends, there was a mix up in our room and four girls had to share one bed! Because we didn’t speak Italian, there was no way we could fix our problem, and ended up sharing the same bed for four days in a row. But it was a blast!

This is random but when I was a kid and AOL had just come out (the start of e-mail, AIM, etc.) my parents didn’t want my brother or I to be on the interent but we finally convinced them to let us share an account, as long as they could be strict parental controls on it, of course. So for the first few formative years of my adolescent life, I had to share an AOL account with my younger brother, whose name is Matt – [email protected]. It was sooooo embarrassing, at the time!

Oddest moment?? Hmm, running into my ex-bf’s parents (whom I got along with very well) with my in-laws last year while watching the LA Marathon. It was bound to happen … they live 2 blocks from each other (and I, on the other hand, do not live anywhere near there and didn’t grow up with them or anything!).

I work for an elected official who had received over a thousand emails supporting a new law. I worked all day on the reply and at 4:55, I sent his reply out. EXCEPT, in my rush to leave, I put the emails in the TO: field, rather than BLIND COPY: All 1,000 emails were visible to everyone. You won’t believe the rain of horrified emails we received.

    I blamed the intern. :)

Last Thanksgiving was our first road trip to Nana and Grampie’s house with three kids. (3,2 and 10 months.) We all shared a hotel room on the first night. My husband slept in the bed with my oldest daughter, I wrangled my 2 year old son in the other bed and my baby had a crib all to herself.
