Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Share me! My little sister always seems to have my clothes and jewelry on when we go home for the weekend. She always laughs when I point it out and smiles her sweet smile and I can’t bare to make her give it back. We have been “sharing”/stealing from each other for 22 years :) yet still so thankful to have the gift of a sister.

SHARE ME!!! My family of 6 shared a bathroom in a Philadelphian row-home. My dad could touch all four walls if he stood in the middle and turned in a circle. We survived ;)

When I was a wee 15 years old, a couple girlfriends and I decided to keep statistics for our high school’s boys basketball team. We thought it would be a great way to meet guys. We made some great friends and formed a few crushes along the way. We’d usually stop on the bus ride home to eat dinner somewhere. While in some small town, eating at a Dairy Queen, one of those friends I’d made decided to share his fried mushroom order with me. Before long, we grew closer, and come spring baseball season, he’d asked me to “go out”. 13 years later we are married (6 years) and waiting for baby #1 to arrive in May. Who’d a thunk sharing fried foods could lead me down this path!

My BFF and I tried to “share” a Beatles poster that we pooled our money for in middle school. Having to share a poster MWF and alternating weekends was interesting (and it quickly devolved into me completely stealing it, forever – I still have it).

SHARE ME! With 3 younger siblings I feel like I was always “sharing” what was in my closet. I remember lot of times, sneaking on a covert operation into their bedrooms just to find most of my clothing crumpled up in a ball on the floor. womp womp…

I get way too much sharing at work from my boss. I’m not much of a pet person due to allergies, but she constantly shares info about her dogs, including all of their, ahem, digestive issues. Not the kind of sharing to start your day off with!

My worst sharing experience was when I had to share a hotel room with my Dad for one night in Hawaii at a family wedding…and I ended up carrying all of the bedding into the bathroom to sleep on the floor because his snoring was unbearable!

My baby sister pronounced my name “Cherrow” when we were young and to this day the nickname resurfaces in the oddest places…. most recently when I my birthday present was delivered to me at work. It was a brand-new iPad, engraved on the back with “Happy Birthday Cherrow” The gift in itself was awesome, but the engraving is what really made my day.

SHARE ME- This falls under harrowing story. I was on the subway in DC and trying to help a lady with a very cranky little one. The baby would calm down for a minute once Mom put in her pacifier. It was the only thing that stopped blood curdling screams. The baby of course threw it on the floor of the disgusting subway. And as moms do, the lady picked it up, gulped and put it in her mouth to try and get rid of the nasty germs/scary particles/etc. That’s love!

As the youngest of four kids (youngest by 13 years) I grew up hearing about the road trips that my siblings had to endure- when my dad exclaimed, “$80 a night?! We just want to rent the room! Not buy the thing!” and then the other three had to situate themselves (un)comfortably in the backseat of the car for sleep that night- My sister in the back window, my eldest brother across the backseat & my younger brother sleeping on the floor of the backseat!

SHARE ME! Today I share one of the best days of my life! My 1st granddaughter was born! Early this morning our sweet baby girl came into the world and I am so honored because she was named after my paternal grandmother whom I was very close to AND her mother and me! She is the 3rd generation with that name. God is so good, I am very blessed.

Our sweet sibling sharing moment of the day: For my daughter’s half-birthday we made a batch of scones to share with friends at the park. When my son, who was pouting a bit, and explained that he wanted a scone too, his sister jumped right in to point out that little brothers can be counted as friends too- thus scones for all! It was a sweet (if not RARE) moment of sisterly sharing!

I’m 38 weeks pregnant, and our 3YO daughter also thinks she’s pregnant. So, strangers often get a show of her pulling up her shirt and announcing that she’s expecting. We’ve had some hilarious reactions to this.

(BTW – where do you come up with these ideas for what to ask us to share???)

I work in a job where you have to show up no matter how bad the weather is. The nice thing is that the company pays for a hotel room nearby if you can’t get home. I was in my room, settling in for the night when one of my coworkers came in (like, she had a door key to my room)! Scrambling to understand what the heck was going on, I jumped to the conclusion that we were supposed to share a room and they’d forgotten to tell me. One very awkward conversation later, we figured out that the desk clerk at the hotel had goofed and forgotten that she had already given someone that one of the block of rooms our company had reserved.

Share Me- The year my husband and I got married we opened our one bedroom with a loft space apartment up to my husbands brother and his three year old son. That was a year ago and we just got our tiny space back but will be adding to our own family in November and I am really looking forward to decorating our home. This would really help get us going.

While sharing a room growing up as a young child I was afraid to sleep in the dark. So my older brother armed with a night light, extension cord and duct tape fashioned me a nite-lite all my own. Not as fancy as the sconces and great things available these days, but I was lucky to have such a caring brother.
