As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? My husband and I have had a fun/frustrating/enjoyable time raising our first puppy – an Australian Shepherd named Buckley. When we brought him home, we were living in an apt that only allowed pets in a pet-designated building (which, we didn’t live in, but we knew we would be able to move soon). We crated Buckley during the day and frequently came home to him howling like a wolf. He wasn’t great at the house-breaking either – we found a beautifully coiled pile of poop on the base of our new Pottery Barn floor lamp one day (how considerate – no carpet cleaning!). When we were moving out a month later our next-door neighbor (whom we’d never met) popped out as we were over-exerting ourselves trying to move the couch and said, “OH! So you’re the people with the little wolf puppy!” “Uhhh…yeah.” We were so panicked in that moment hoping she hadn’t reported us to the leasing office, but she only wanted to meet the puppy!

When my husband and I purchased our house, there was a lot of discussion about the master bedroom closet situation…I say situation because we were transitioning from a walk-in closet to a standard reach-in closet (read: much smaller). Most of our family/friends figured that I would dominate the master closet and force hubby to use a closet in another bedroom. We are sharing the closet, although I may have more realestate and he may still have to store footwear in another closet…but I’m still sharing…and maybe shopping a little less…maybe…

SHARE ME! Youngest of four, we had our own split bathroom (tub/shower separate from sink) which was nice, but notice I used the singular “sink.” My parents built that house after having ALL of us… my mom has always said “I don’t know what I was thinking only putting one sink in!”

As the oldest of six kids, I wasn’t a fan of equitable sharing, particularly when it came to Girl Scrout cookies. So I would sometimes hide the last few cookies in the farthest corners of the freezer to go back and “liberate” later… I’ve made a lot of cookies in my own kitchen since then to share with my siblings and make up for it!

Back in the day, my teenage brother and I actually had to SHARE a cell phone. It seems like a totally crazy (not to mention impossible) scenario in this day and age, but when we were in high school cell phones were just starting to get big. My parents tried to convince us we were lucky to have any phone at all, even if it meant we had to switch off days using it. Of course, so few of our friends had them, we never really had an issue with getting each others incoming calls. It was mostly for emergency use, and to look cool in the cafeteria. (Yes, I finally got my own cell when I went off to college. My brother still has the same original number – but thankfully a new phone.)

My husband and I share a car and commute to work together in the morning. Sometimes, we argue before our morning cup of coffee, but other times it’s nice to have that extra 20 minutes to talk and just be together :)

My husband and I have Oral B tooth brushes with the little strip that fades as you use it to show you when you need a new one. One day my husband said to me, “my strip is almost gone and yours isn’t at all. Looks like I brush way better than you.” Then I said, no mine is almost gone. Then I asked him what color his toothbrush was. ..And then we realized we had accidentally been using the same tooth brush for months! AHH

This might sound odd, but in November my two brothers, my dad, and I all road tripped together from Denver to Lincoln, Nebraska for my grandmother’s funeral. While it wasn’t for a good reason, the trip ended up being really fun. I don’t know if we’ll ever again have a trip with “just us” (not including spouses, kids, etc.). It felt like we were kids again and we laughed so much and shared a lot of bonding time. I’ll always remember it.

SHARE ME! A story of best friends. One day, when we were about 15, my friend and I were sharing a papasan chair at my parents house and I suddenly sneezed. It wasn’t a gross snotty sneeze, but it was a sneeze nonetheless, and my friend was holding her glass of water nearby. She looked at me, shrugged, and took a sip. To this day she still says “remember that day I drank your sneeze?”

Share me! I went to a Christian retreat several years ago and they put four women in each hotel room, with two each in a double bed. I barely knew the woman I shared a bed with; within five minutes she was sound asleep and snoring with this chain-sawing sound! I couldn’t believe it didn’t wake her up! The other two women in the other bed started laughing into their pillows and we all just tried to giggle through it. I didn’t sleep much that night but we never breathed a word of it to her. We were there for two nights and it was our private laugh as she apparently didn’t know she snored like crazy! None of us slept much but we got through it——the theme of the weekend was loving one another in the Lord! :)

SHARE ME!!! A few years back my husband was up for a job and he was asked to come for a 2nd interview. A dinner interview with the partner’s and their wives. And they wanted me to attend as well. I was freaking out and so nervous! I didn’t want to mess up my husband’s big opportunity. So, I am (“conveniently”) seated in between the head partner and his wife and all the way across the table from my husband (they divided and conquered us!). All was going well until the partners suggested that we share desserts…with the person next to us. The partner’s wives paired up as did my husband and 1 partner. I was paired up to share a dessert with the head partner! We decided on a chocolate cake and the only thing I can remember was that he said “when our forks meet, you’ll know we’re done”. I did a nervous giggle and mustered up the nerve to eat just a bite or two. Luckily my husband got the job and his bosses are great people. But, boy what a nerve wracking sharing experience that was!!!

Not sharing in the traditional sense, but my father recently gave up his economy plus seat on a 7 hour flight transatlantic so a couple could sit together. I thought that was pretty sweet.
