As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? We’re working on sharing with our two-and-a-half year old and one-year-old. We checked out what I thought was a great book about sharing from the library, but the only thing my daughter has picked up from the book is the word “mine,” which the main character utters freqently until she learns to share!

When my now-husband and I were dating long distance (coast to coast = not pretty) we made our own little book club. Since we didn’t share any daily activities (or even a time zone), we’d pick a book to read and then have something in common to talk about over the phone. Sharing those pages made the distance more bearable, because we had at least a little sliver of sameness in our lives. Now, since we have two copies of those books, when I find a friend who is interested in reading one, I share my copy with them!

I have two sisters and a brother and “sharing” had a rather loose definition – it sometimes meant for an extended period of time. My favorite share, though, was when my brother was really getting into English bands and found out they wore women’s flare jeans and then asked to try mine. I gladly offered them up and luckily they didn’t fit, but you can bet that story will come up during his upcoming wedding weekend.

Until I was 13 I shared a room with my younger sister (a very small room). We slept in a trundle bed that my father made, and even though I was so happy to get my own room when I got older, my best memories are of my parents reading to my sister and I as we fell asleep at night.

So, this story falls into the “childhood memories” category; when I was little my parents’ bedroom was at the top of the stairs, and in the corner of their room was a big closet…that I was convinced was inhabited by a witch. Thus, for *years* trips to my room or the upstairs bathroom became carefully choreographed missions, as I tried to make it past their door before the witch reached it. (and no, surprisingly I never did actually see her…)

“Share Me”!! I am watching what I eat and losing lots of weight. Anyone who is on a diet knows that each meal is to be savored, especially when portions are limited! My 2 yr old always wants to eat what I’m eating and wants me to share. While I usually cant deny him, it’s so hard to share what little food I get for myself with him!! I would make him his own, but my kids tend to not want to eat what I make specifically for them, but of course if I am eating it on my own plate, then they want it!!

SHARE ME! I grew up with two sisters, so I was used to sharing. But nothing could prepare me for the level of sharing that arose after my son was born. I’d never before shared my lap in the bathroom, for example, or tasted some unknown blob of string cheese (?) dipped in something that a toddler thought was wonderful!

I wasn’t really spoiled as an only child, but sharing a community bathroom was an adjustment for me in college. One time I burned my butt because there was bleach left on the toilet seat. :)

SHARE ME! Each year my family of 5 vacations in the same cottage on Cape Cod. There is only one outdoor shower (none inside) and one small hot water tank. When we were younger, my parents timed our showers to 4 minutes each! We were able to stop that for a few years once we were all mature enough to be considerate. Now, us kids are grown-up and bring our significant others, meaning that 8 people need a shower, so the timing has returned!

Bedrooms, clothes, anything else we owned, even birthday parties! and of course can’t forget to mention the one little bathroom for the entire family :) It definitely got very crazy at times, but I sure do love my family!

Share me!! The funniest experience I had “sharing” was when calling to book a hotel room for my best friend and I to share so we could crash after an out of town concert. When I called to request the room, I was greeted by a very kind gentleman with a slightly different accent than mine. I informed him that I had a coupon for a queen bed. He then replied that all the beds were “queen” so I said ok and that we would like to book one. He then replied “what size”? I then repeated “Queen”. We went back and forth for a minute or so and finally he said, so you would like a “Queen Queen bed”? Utterly confused, we sat in silence for a minute when he said Miss Lindsey, we “queen all our bedding. Our beds are very queen”. Needless to say, we ended up with a very clean and comfy queen sized bed for our stay and still laugh about it every time we book a hotel room :)
