Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! I had to share a tiny car backseat with my very long-limbed sister for several years when we were younger. Didn’t make car trips any easier, that’s for sure.

Not my own story but still leaves me thankful: My dad grew up 1 of 10 siblings and their house had 1.5 bathrooms for all to share.

I previously shared a house with my husband and a good friend of ours, who enjoyed “sharing” every bit of my food he could “share”! One year, I went away for a day after Thanksgiving and found that he had decided to “share” all of my green bean casserole (and I make a mean green bean casserole). He ate an entire huge container, and I was CRUSHED! We revised our “sharing” policy soon after, and thankfully I only have to share my space (and food) with my hubby now!

My dad was pulling my best friend and I around the lake on an inner tube and did one last twirl in front of my friend’s house with my family and her family watching. I began to fall off, along with the bottoms of my bathing suit. I tried my best to hold on, but I was laughing so hard that I finally just let go. When I swam to shore it was confirmed that I had mooned everyone! It was so embarrassing…but more funny. :)

Share me! I’ll always remember sharing a bedroom with my sister until she hit middle school and needed that ‘teenager-sized’ space. Up until then, we shared stuffed animals and clothes. Whether she knew it or not, I kept on sharing those clothes!

I went to CVS Friday night to take advantage of the buy-one-get-one-free 2L of Diet Dr. Pepper deal. The lady behind me in line got a handle of vodks, No-Doz and Peeps. She gently taps me on the shoulder, points to my drinks and says, “You know, diet soda is really bad for you.” REALLY!?

SHARE ME! My almost 3 year old went shopping with me for Grandma’s birthday, and I told her we had to keep quiet about what we bought for Grandma. At the next visit with Grandma, she whispered loudly everything we bought and then smiled and said “I was being quiet momma. I was whispering” :)

Growing up, my sister and I always had to share the same hair dryer. I can remember both of us yelling in the morning before school about whose turn it was to “have a good hair day”.

Last week I went to coed yoga in black spandex pants, which make me self-conscious and uncomfortable the whole time! The worst part is, however, that later that night I bent over and my husband noticed that the pants stretched sheer! I was doing crazy yoga positions in sheer pants with the littlest of skivvies underneath! Mortifying!

Share Me! I love to share music with my sister. Even though we’re only 13 months apart, we didn’t really get close until she moved away to college and we bonded over getting back together to go to concerts. If it wasn’t for sharing a music library, I don’t know if my sister and I would have the relationship we do today.

I recently went out of town with my boss for a convention/team building event. We stayed in her stepson’s condo and I had to sleep in a twin bed normally occupied by a four year old. It was weird and awkward, but I feel especially awkward, now that we’re back to stressful office days… Not exactly harrowing or endearing, just awkward.

My family of 4 (mom, dad, brother & me) all shared ONE bathroom until we moved when I was 16. I don’t remember it being awful, but I’m sure it was. I was so happy when my parents built a 3 bathroom house in time for the last of my high school years of primping and preening!

SHARE ME! My son was the first born and the first grandson all around. So when his sister came along 4 years later, he was not to pleased. He had a real hard time sharing everything with her. Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, the works. I even have video of him making a fuss cause I was holding her! Thank goodness they have outgrown that, at 18 and 22, I would hope so!

She’s the best. Even now that we’re both married and live in different towns (about 300 miles apart) we somehow manage to STILL share clothes! My husband, in particular, doesn’t ‘get it.’ HA!

My sister and I grew up sharing a tiny bedroom, and naturally ended up sharing our clothes. We are now 27 and 29 and both married, and yet when we see each other, we inevitably still say to each other, “Hey, that’s MY SHIRT! Give it back!!”

My mom is from the Philippines, and a couple summers ago my parents took me, my husband, and my brothers to visit family for a month. It was my husband’s first time meeting my mom’s side of the family. Between short trips to other parts of the country, we stayed with my uncle in his one bedroom condo. The six of us slept on air mattresses in my uncle’s living room, with no room for space in between. Good thing Ian likes his in-laws!

When I was a kid, my sister and I shared a bedroom. This was all well and good until my sister started talking in her sleep…with her eyes open. I often woke up with her staring at me from across the room (our beds faced each other on opposite walls) and mumbling about who knows what. Talk about CREEPY! Luckily, she’s less of a weirdo now. =)
