Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

My sister and I shared a room and a full-sized bed all our childhood until I was 12. It helped us grow up close and I don’t ever remember disliking it! We stayed warm during the bitter-cold winter nights.

Share me! I was traveling in NYC with my boss and due to a crazy traffic jam we missed our flight. He was platinum status and was able to get directly onto the next flight in first class. Of course, I was not platinum and economy was sold out. So, he paid to upgrade me so I wasn’t left stranded in LaGuardia!

When I was 13, I was fortunate enough to answer the phone call when our local radio station called with the weekly “cash call.” The cash call required one luck contestant to listen for the amount and then recite it when (and if) the radio station randomly selected their phone number . I listened, I was prepared, I answered correctly and I won the $267.93. But…my mom made me share it with my brother. For what reason, I am still not certain, but if he ever wins the lottery, he better share!

SHARE ME! I shared a room with my older sister for years. One year we divided the room with tape and we couldn’t go on either one’s side. I forgot that my side of the room only had a window to the front porch! So I had to climb out the window and go in the front door to access any of the other rooms in the house! I was outwitted by a 13 yr old.

SHARE ME! My husband and I played our own version of the newlywed game one night. I asked him “I don’t like when you use this beauty product of mine.” His answer? “Your tweezers for plucking my nose hair?” I did not know that he did that. I was going to say my salon brand shampoo. I now hide my tweezers.

In college I was selected to speak at the Eastern Communication conference. I suppose the college was looking to save a few bucks because they put me in a hotel room with another fellow student speaker who I had never met. You really get to know someone in those close quarters. The good thing we really hit it off and had a great time. I suppose forced sharing can be good :)

For years I had to share a bed with my sister. It might not have been so bad if she hadn’t had a huge aversion to being touched. The day we got bunk beds was a day of huge improvement for our relationship.

I loved sharing a double bed and room with my sister. For some reason I think my sister felt a little less joyful about this. I was 5 years younger sister and a bit hyperactive. (Poor Mary!)

In spite of it all, to this day she’s my best friend. :)

Oh man, there’s the story of how my sister & I nearly declared war over sharing the back seat on a long drive up to MI. Then there’s the one from when we lived in an apt and our neighbors were being…uhhh, LOUD. Yeah.

I think you’d most appreciate what I find myself repeating all day to my 18 month old daughter:
“Cara, stop throwing food to the dog!”
    “Meeka, stop begging for food!”

No wonder the dog is getting fat…too much sharing!

SHARE ME! :) I was once a newbie at booking travel plans for my coworkers and didn’t understand the rule that everyone got their own hotel room. My first reservation included a shared room for two male employees (what? I thought I was saving the company some money!) and they BOTH came to me separately and said they would never even WANT to share a room with the other traveler, even if they had to. I guess it was a good thing they didn’t have to! Oops!

I had no idea about Joss & Main! We just bought our first house (ever) and are attemting to bring our own style and color to an old 1926 bungalow. We could really use that Joss & Main giveaway to do away with our cardboard boxs we are using and a coffee table and side tables! We feel like college kids with the cardboard boxes, but grown up since we just bought a house.

My cousins, mom and aunts all still share most of our clothes. We just rotate clothes across the country after we’ve worn them a few
times. And let me just add, that’s 5 aunts and about as many girl cousins who are the same size (aka not kids!)

I had to share a house with six very messy 20-something guys (I am female). I think the most memorable moment from that year was this exchange in our living room.

Guest: “Where should I put this?” (holds up empty sandwich wrapper)
Housemate: “Just put it on the trash table.”
Me: “There is no such thing as a ‘trash table’!”

My sister and I shared a room growing up and I hated it! I would create a line between our beds and threaten that she better not cross over or let any of her things get on MY side! We recently went on vacation together to visit our grandmother in Florida and had to share a room w/two twin beds just like the good ol’ days! Things went much better and this time there were no boundary lines drawn. :)

SHARE ME – Our parents took my two siblings and I on a three-week European vacation one summer. This would sound like heaven on earth to anyone except a 16 year old, 15 year old and 13 year old who were forced away from their friends and significant others during the prime summer months. What added insult to injury was that the three of us would be sharing rooms wherever we stayed. Long story short, it was a trip of a lifetime and what sounded like bad luck really ended up bonding us like only a small European hotel room can. . .

SHARE ME! i always went to summer camp when i was growing up. there was a LOT of sharing there! we all lived in bunk houses and traded clothes every day. Packing was always interesting at the end of the session because we all had to remember who we borrowed what from and where they lived at camp. So many good memories! They need a summer camp for adults!
