Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! My four siblings, mom, and I shared a 1-bath, 2-bedroom house for 5 years. My sister and I shared a room, my 2 brothers shared, my oldest brother was in a teeny-tiny “art studio” space and my mom’s room was set up in the living room. When we built onto our house in my early teens, we each got our own room + 2 more bathrooms. I’ll never forget the day we walked into that renovated space – it seemed enormous to us!

I remember sharing a bathroom with 4 siblings, not fun, back then you were super rich if you had 2 bathrooms!

i shared a bedroom with my sister my entire childhood. So when I moved to college and got a private room for the first time I didn’t know what to do! I slept with my door open for 2 years. Everyone else in my apartment closed theirs. :)

Last year, my husband and several friends attended an out-of-town wedding. After the after party…my best friend got locked out of the room she was sharing with her sister, so she had to bunk with the H and I. Needless to say, being in the middle of two cover-hogs does not equal good night’s sleep!

My 5 and 8 year old sons are really good at sharing. So good, in fact, that when it comes to something like a pinata or any other kiddie treat competition, they usually end up giving all the stuff they got to kids who didn’t get any, and then they feel sad that they didn’t get any, which means that I end up buying them a little something so that they get a treat too. It’s this sad but kind a hilarious situation that happens at least a few times a year.

My husband has yet to learn good sharing. Especially when it comes to food. I told him that it was in our vows that I get one bite of everything on his plate. I don’t think that’s too much to ask:-) He says if I wanted it, I should have ordered it myself.

SHARE ME: My (almost) 3-year old son is a shining example of someone who shares. Frequently sharing his believed “dray-dray” wiht his (almost) 1-year old sister whenever she is upset. He will even share his last cookie with you, to our surprise, if you ask him nicely.

Ha, so growing up, my older brother got dibs on the first car. Which was an 80s maroon van. It had a family of squirrels living in the back, it would randomly spray the windshield wiper fluid off to the right (and sometimes hit pedestrians) and the sliding door would fall off if you opened it all the way. Talk about a special car.

SHARE ME! I’m in shock that sharing a hotel room with your boss was one of your examples since that is exactly what happened to me… And as if sharing with my boss was not bad enough on it’s own, both of our husbands also worked for our company (mine was an underling like me but hers was her boss!) so those little phone calls home were really awkward in our little tiny NYC hotel room!

My younger sister and I shared a bedroom until I moved away for college. When we were little it was super fun to share a room. We made tons of forts and played all the time in there. For awhile we even pushed our twin sized beds together to make one big bed. But the fun ended by the time we became teenagers. Yeah. Two teenage girls in one 10 x 12 room. Not a good idea. But we survived and still laugh about it today. :)

SHARE ME-My girls share a room. About a year ago we got them bunk beds, but most of the time they end up sleeping in the bottom bunk. I love going in at night and seeing them sleeping all snuggly together. Last night, one daughter had her leg on top of her sister, who had her hand on top of her sister’s leg (liek she was patting it while asleep). So cute.

My favorite sharing stories always come from my elementary school students who love to OVERSHARE things they hear their parents say :-) My most recent example of this was when one of my students randomly shared the following: “My mom told me she doesn’t know how she got pregnant with me. She was just taking some medicine and then she got pregnant.” Ooops :-) I died trying NOT to laugh.
