Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I share a queen size bed with my husband and loveable Boston Terrier every night. Basically, my husband gets half, the dog gets half, and I contort myself around the dog hanging on for dear life from the edge of the bed. It’s even more fun when we are visiting my husband’s family and are stuck with a full size bed.

one summer I worked as a swim instructor for a daycare center. I taught(what felt like) a million preschoolers and they were kind enough to share pink eye with me. I got it in both eyes and the doctor told me there was nothing they could give me to speed up the healing. Needless to say I quit that job shortly after and it look me a long time before I would teach preschoolers again!

I am an only child… so to be honest, sharing does not really come that easy. My husband is also an only child, so he “gets me” haha.

SHARE ME! When I was a kid, I was afraid of aliens and always thought they’d abduct me at night from my bedroom (thanks, Unsolved Mysteries!). So I sometimes would ask my brother if I could sleep in his room, on his top bunk. One night, he must have been afraid of something, too, because he got up, went to his closet, and offered me one of the hockey sticks in there for protection. I declined; I just didn’t want to be alone, so I felt fine in his room and didn’t need a stick! He took one, however, and slept with it. :)

Just a couple of weeks ago I was stranded at the Chicago O’hare airport. While waiting in line to learn my fate (when I would finally leave) I met two wonderful people who were stranded as well. We chatted it up for the 45 minutes we waited in line, then we each approached the desk to receive the news. I was the only one they offered a hotel room for the overnight delay, since I needed to return to the airport in a mere four and a half hours I was afraid to sleep as were my two new friends. So, we all decided to go to the hotel together and share the one room to freshen up and then went downstairs to the lounge for dinner and drinks.

When my husband and I found out we were pregnant, we shared the news by mailing a card with a picture of the month the baby was due and circling the date on the front, and on the inside was an ultrasound pic with a note from baby to grandparents.

I grew up in a teensy, tiny little house with two older brothers….neither of which enjoyed sharing our one bathroom or small couch with their little sister. Some how I always ended up last to get ready, or stuck on the floor during movie night! Now that I’m out of the house and a newlywed, I’m really enjoying having tons of space in our new house to spread out!! Now if only I could win that Joss & Main credit to help fill all of that space!! Thanks for sharing with us, YHL!

Haha the best times were sharing a bathroom with my brother growing up. And by sharing I mean I used it for an hour and a half every morning while he had to go use my parents bathroom. What are sisters for?

When I was a kid, me and the neighbor boy were about to share a glass of my iced tea, and when I went to take the second drink after him, I could smell his really, really bad breath in the glass and I decided I would “share” the whole thing and just let him drink it all. I’m so nice!

My sister and I never had to share a bedroom, a bed, a closet, nothing… but as the youngest sister, I felt the need to teach my big sis about sharing. SOO… I ALWAYS insisted on sharing her bed when we were little (it was MUCH less scary than mine!), I also shared her diary (when she wasn’t looking), and eventually I shared her clothing (also when she wasn’t looking). I was a brat… :)

I had to share a room with one of my sisters until I was 16. Most of that time was with my younger sister and I was quite determined to run tape down the room to split it in half. Half would have kept her from coming in the door… :)

President Bush came to High Point University one time to give a speech. I scored front row seats through a friend (although I hardly keep up or care about politics), and when he was done he came off stage and came straight to our row to shake hands with people. When he got to me, he reached each arm out, one at a time, on either side of my shoulders, so I reached out and returned what I thought was an attempt at a hug! Little did I know that he was shaking the hands of the 2 people sitting behind me. He was NOT trying to give me a hug, and his secret service did NOT find this act amusing! Whoops!

My worst sharing story involves my former (thankfully) boss, who was a serious alcoholic and having to share both a hotel room and rental car on one very unfortunate business trip. I’l spare you the details, but it was a very very very long three days.

Share me! I’ll never forget the vacation we took when I was in 8th grade. Two teenagers, two parents, and one grandma sharing a motorhome touring the southwest in 1984 for two weeks. Most memorable moment of the trip was when my brother was being yelled at for not appreciating the “luxury” we had traveling the country compared to our forefathers. After a few minutes of silence, he spoke up, “Grandma? If we had forefathers, did we also have foremothers? And when they had kids, did they have foreplay?”
