Fab Freebie: Sharing The Love

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!

As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!

Joss Main Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Oh boy, I’ve had so many awkward moments while sharing stories to large groups, I get really shy and nervous. I’ve gotten better now, but I still totally prefer sharing stuff one on one!

SHARE ME. I grew up with a family of 7 in a little house. There was MUCH sharing. The first time I in my life I didn’t have to share a bedroom was as a sophomore in college…but my new room in the basement was the size of Harry’s cupboard under the stairs. My friends sent cards addressed to my cupboard. Moral of the story: I have cool friends.

My 2 year old likes to share her toys with our cat. Today she shoved her stuffed hippo in the cat’s face, and said “Hippo, kitty cat!”. The cat does not like to share with the baby. Oh well. :)

SHARE ME! You guys are so generous! My most recent favorite sharing story is teaching my 14 month old how to share – and in an effort to be a sport about showing her how nice it is to share, accepting half eaten food or pre-chewed crackers graciously with a smile. Yum.

SHARE ME! I never had my Dad in my life growing up. I had no clue I had a little sister, either. I met them both when I was 15 and my sister was 14. She is now my best friend ever and my Dad and I have a great relationship :)

SHARE ME! :) My grandmother is an amazing singer, when she was young she was becoming famous, at one point she was Elvis’ backup, some of my most favorite memories are the ones where she tells me about him, he was very sweet and of course handsome, when they would film him singing, they would only film it on his torso an up, because his hips where too sexy, all those dance moves! She had a contract to tour the world, but she couldn’t accept, she already had a family and wanted more, so that’s exactly what she did, and without that, I wouldn’t be here, everytime I see her we play the piano together and she sings, she has cancer and it’s hard for her to control her voice as her body shakes, but she sings for me.

SHARE ME!! TMI Alert: A friend and I were both pumping at work at the same time and occasionally shared an office space to do it. It’s hard to find a place to do it, so that’s how it worked out. It will be nice to stay at home this time so I don’t have to do that anymore. The office was dubbed “The Milking Station!”

SHARE ME! My parents raised us 5 kids under the “we share everything” philosophy — nothing was ever just MINE, which drove me nuts. My older sister would come in my room in the morning after I left for school and take clothes from my closet (and never wash or return them). I hooked a tape player up to an outlet connected to the light switch so it would turn on when the light switch was turned on. When my sister came in my room one morning to raid the closet, she flipped on the light switch and heard my voice, recorded on a cassette tape, screaming, “Get out of here! Put those clothes back!” My disembodied voice scared the heck out of her!!!

I had to share a lot with my brothers growing up. From food (never ate my own leftovers, they were eaten before I even woke up the next morning) to first car when we were teens (I would get dressed and be ready to go out when I would step outside….to see the car gone).
Very glad I am no longer living with those hooligans, though I still love them.

Share me! Last summer we traveled with a two year old and a three month old and being cheap we only got one room. So after the girls went to bed, my husband and I sat in the bathroom with the door closed eating cold pizza, whispering to each other, and reading our books. It was sooo romantic. Bonus points: I got to sit on the throne.

Tonight my family of five is sharing our 3 bedroom 1 bath house with 2 strangers. The guys are traveling across the country documenting life. My husband found their blog, saw they were traveling near our area, and invited to visit our community and stay at our house. Our guests always stay in my 10 year old daughter’s bedroom where she has covered the walls in her own drawings. I guess she’s learning to share too.

For a long time, I worried about our oldest (4) sharing with his new baby brother… after 4 years of being an only child, he didn’t share well with his cousin :( But when our little guy came, he was MORE than happy to share his *appropriately sized* toys and loves it! So sweet to see him in his new role!

I have fun memories of the shared bathroom in college at the sorority house. I was once bombarded by my roomie’s extensive rubber duck collection as I showered. Another friend thought it would be hilarious to throw them in on me one by one!
