Fab Freebie: Supper Management

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.

YouveGotSupper List

YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.

We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

YouveGotSupper Burger

And now for this week’s giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

My husband actually does most of the cooking and I take care of the clean-up! We have our few fav’s, but like to try new things once in awhile.

Mix up dinner? It’s lucky if I even make it! Usually my SO has that job. But I do love to find things that look good to try.

Just found this website, already bookmarked for more looks.

I want supper done for me! I work a full time job and I’m trying to start my own business, so I’m super busy. I have been trying to make one large meal that will have leftovers (casserole or soup) on Sunday then start something else in the crock pot on Monday morning. That way, when I get home Monday night it’s ready. Tuesday night I have leftovers from Sunday. Then we only have two days left, one of which is usually take-out and the other is a stand-by (like quesadillas). I love to cook, but just don’t have much time and appreciate anything that helps me get organized.

    I WANT SUPPER!!

The best way I’ve found to mix it up (and I’m not kidding here!) – I knock on my neighbor’s door and ask them what they’re having for dinner and if I can barge in, and then they can come over to my place tomorrow! I live in a small apartment building and I’m friends with all of my neighbors, so it works out really well!

Thanks for the YGS tip. Something similar was just featured in the October issue of Real Simple–a month’s worth of time-saving menus.

    I WANT SUPPER!

…while not as creative as most, my husband is living in C-ville, VA and I am in Charlotte, NC waiting on our house to sell. I’ve found my favorite way to mix up dinner is to have a “cooking day” and make lots of all kinds of meals. I then portion them up and freeze them, so I still get homemade all throughout the week, regardless of just being a solo eater/cooker for a bit.

I have been pretty good lately about making dinner every night, but occasionally we will just call up some friends and ask what they are having and manipulate our way into a free dinner…nothing better than free food and no clean-up. =)

    I WANT SUPPER

We have so little time to cook between planning a wedding, working, volunteering in the community, AND having just bought our first house, just being able to cook dinner after we’re married will be a switch up!

We both live with our parents now so this whole grocery-buying thing will definitely be a switch-up :)
