Does the name La-Z-Boy immediately make you think of a big ol’ leather recliner? It did for me. So color us surprised when we learned they’ve actually got a pretty darn extensive line of furniture – including sofas, loveseats, ottomans and even accessories in modern patterns and fresh colors. The kicker? They’re giving one of you $1,500 (yep, a grand-and-a-half!) to spend. That’s enough to pick your favorite piece (or two or three!) and pair it with your favorite neutral, bold, or graphic fabric. When my husband and I were dating (in high school!) his parents had these super fabulous and ultra-deep couches and we spent HOURS snuggled up watching Pardon the Interruption, Around the Horn and SportsCenter on ESPN in the afternoons after school. I thought for sure I’d bagged myself a cuddler!
Imagine my displeasure when my husband bought his first couch (an olive green-blech-but well-made piece of furniture) off of Craigslist in 2007–and only after we got home realized it is too narrow for two people to lay side-by-side (you can only be so picky when you’re buying used furniture). No more couch cuddles for me :( When we moved in together in 2009, the couch came, too, and three years later we still have it! Our used couch is going on its 5th anniversary and it has overstayed its welcome. For five years I’ve wanted to cuddle up on the couch but there’s just not room for us both. I would LOVE a deeper couch–and now that we’ve recently adopted a rescue sheltie–who refuses to be on the couch unless he gets his own whole cushion(!)–really we’re in pretty desperate need for a bigger–and preferably–less green couch :)
