Fab Freebie: Talk About Home Improvement

*** This contest is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Random.org got his random on and selected our winner as… Tracey @ Tropical Happiness (who just moved into a new house last week so she has lots of shopping to do). Congrats! For everyone else, keep that chin up – you can still enter the Hometalk $500 Lowe’s gift card giveaway through Sunday.

You may already know that Hometalk is a community of home improvement experts (including some familiar HGTV faces) and fellower DIYers sharing home and garden projects, advice, and even contractors. And for this week’s giveaway they’re majorly hooking someone up… to the tune of a $500 gift card to Crate & Barrel!

HomeTalkGiveaway1

And as if that weren’t enough, over on their site they’re also giving away another 500 bucks (this time to Lowe’s). So to get in on that little bonus freebie, you can answer their quick poll question (about what outdoor summer project you still need to tackle – btw, our answer is C), sign up for a free account, and then cross your fingers really hard. Of course you can just enter for the Crate & Barrel gift card by commenting over here (or the Lowe’s card over there) so there’s no pressure to do both.

HomeTalkGiveaway2

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to Crate & Barrel courtesy of Hometalk
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “TALK TO ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since Hometalk is polling folks about their summer projects, let’s cover your fall & winter plans here. What’s on your to-tackle list later this year? Maybe updating your fireplace just in time for cooler weather? Or redoing your bedroom for those cold winter nights? Or are you just itching to decorate for Halloween and Christmas already?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, August 17th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Hometalk.

    TALK TO ME!
As for my To-Tackle list… its endless…. :-) I want to repaint the outside & inside of my house. (the inside is still the boring – we just moved in colors.) And since we are expecting a new bundle of joy in March, we have a major revamp plan to move our office to our formal dining room (that has NEVER been used by anyone but the cat) and to turn the current office into a nursary. Pink or blue, blue or pink… come Oct we will find out. (Though I’m seriously crushing on Clara’s whimsical flower mobile in her room so I’m secrectly hoping for a girl this time so I can copy that idea! Shhh, don’t tell the hubby I said that though!) :-)

    “TALK TO ME!”

I have a million projects lined up for my new house. I still need to paint everywhere, I am hunting for the perfect chairs for the parlor, I need to convince my boyfriend to let me stencil the dining rooom after we remove the gigantic and hideous light fixture in there and replace them with something less obtrusive…..the list is endless, but also, weirdly, is making me happy.

We are planning a big remodel in the next year so we are trying to hold back since some parts of the house won’t exist anymore. I am trying to focus on the areas that will. I have been working on the bathroom and plan for new cabinets/mirror, paint and tile in the near future. I have also been thinking about searching for a new door (which is funny since you just posted about your door). I would love to find an old solid wood door and bring it back to life. We’ll see…

    TALK TO ME!

We have been trying to start a major DIY bathroom/laundry room renovation all summer so that’s my summer and fall project. We have some supplies but I think we’re just scared to start it. My husband is not exactly a handy man and we are doing some major work (adding a shower to what is currently a half bath) so this will be an adventure.
