Fab Freebie: Talk About Home Improvement

*** This contest is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Random.org got his random on and selected our winner as… Tracey @ Tropical Happiness (who just moved into a new house last week so she has lots of shopping to do). Congrats! For everyone else, keep that chin up – you can still enter the Hometalk $500 Lowe’s gift card giveaway through Sunday.

You may already know that Hometalk is a community of home improvement experts (including some familiar HGTV faces) and fellower DIYers sharing home and garden projects, advice, and even contractors. And for this week’s giveaway they’re majorly hooking someone up… to the tune of a $500 gift card to Crate & Barrel!

HomeTalkGiveaway1

And as if that weren’t enough, over on their site they’re also giving away another 500 bucks (this time to Lowe’s). So to get in on that little bonus freebie, you can answer their quick poll question (about what outdoor summer project you still need to tackle – btw, our answer is C), sign up for a free account, and then cross your fingers really hard. Of course you can just enter for the Crate & Barrel gift card by commenting over here (or the Lowe’s card over there) so there’s no pressure to do both.

HomeTalkGiveaway2

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to Crate & Barrel courtesy of Hometalk
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “TALK TO ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since Hometalk is polling folks about their summer projects, let’s cover your fall & winter plans here. What’s on your to-tackle list later this year? Maybe updating your fireplace just in time for cooler weather? Or redoing your bedroom for those cold winter nights? Or are you just itching to decorate for Halloween and Christmas already?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, August 17th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Hometalk.

Talk to me! We just bought our first home so we have a long list, which includes painting the interior, scraping away the popcorn ceilings, painting the kitchen cabinets, making new draperies, etc. etc. etc.

We just moved to a new house and need a whole host of things! I’d really like to tackle the bedroom and get a cozy rug and some curtains to make it look more put together and less “we threw all our combined stuff in here.”

Hoping to re-finish the fireplace by this winter. It’s one of those 80’s open on two sides fireplaces, so I’m hoping to seal up one side and then change out the marble for brick to warm it up.

On my list of things to do for this fall are:
    – Built-in entertainment center for our tv, with bookcases on either side, in the living room.
    – New living room furniture.
    – Wainscoting in the dining room
    – And always at the top of the list is decorating for the holidays!

SO many things on our to do list as we just bought a house, but our main fall project will be re-doing our masterbath. Everything from painting to new lighting fixture. Removing the HUGE mirror and replacing it with 2 smaller ones. Ripping out all the old towel racks and re-drywalling the crazy holes I am sure my husband is to leave! lol This list should last us to next summer!

My husband and I are less than two weeks away from closing on our first house(!), and we will have lots of fall and winter projects to keep us busy. First on the list is painting the living room/dining room and master bedroom. Then installing a microwave/hood unit to free up counter space in the 1950s kitchen. Next will be replacing the carpet squares in the basement den.

TALK TO ME (please:)) I just found ya’ll a week ago and I love this blog like nobody’s business! I would really like to re-decorate my bedroom for this next ‘less warm’ season. As of right now, everything in my room is light & summery- which I LOVE, but it needs some major changes design-wise. I’m still in love with my mauve-y wall paint, but I need something to warm it up & make it pop! And maybe a rug, after all, Richmond actually does get pretty cold. (Shout out for fellow Richmond-er!) Keep up the great work!
