Fab Freebie: The Closers

We gave random.org the assignment again of helping us choose our winner and they chose… Sarah (who could think of 10 little projects that have added up that she could use this for). Congrats Sarah!

Since the early days of YHL, we’ve been buddies with the foursome over at One Project Closer. Ethan, Fred, and their wives Jocie and Kim dish up tutorials, tool reviews and decor posts to help us all get (say it with me) one project closer to our dream house. Recently they’ve launched a series of “Pro-Follows” where the boys tag along with professional contractors to document big projects like building a deck (which we may be referencing soon ourselves). But if that makes you break into a sweat, perhaps their new The Better Half section (where the ladies tackle design and craft projects) is more your speed. Whichever suits you, One Project Closer is helping someone get one hundred dollars closer this week with a $100 prize to the home improvement store of your choice. Now that should suit just about everyone, right?

    We currently have two projects we need to finish–our master bathroom and our baby girl’s nursery. This fun prize would go to the nursery. I can’t wait to put her sweet little room together!

    GET ME CLOSER!

    I really would like to be close to starting a kitchen remodel, but I just don’t have the time to tackle it (and money’s always an issue, isn’t it?) The cabinets are nice hardwood from the 1960’s… but it shows. And dishwashers didn’t exist in 1960’s kitchens, so we really would like to add one.

    (Oh, and if you see Ethan, tell him Jeremy says Hi! I went to college with Ethan and really should be following his site more often…)

    GET ME CLOSER to building a ladder to my bedroom loft! I want to create a book-nook up there but I need to build a ladder to get up there first!

    Get me closer to refinishing one of our bathrooms! Out with the country-style hearts and floral wallpaper and old linoleum floor – in with painted walls and a tiled floor:)

    GET ME CLOSER… so many projects I can’t make progress on any of them. I would say the fireplace stripping and painting and the gallery wall are top of the list!

    GET ME CLOSER…to starting the garden I have been envisioning for our little backyard. I’m at the point where I can start picking out some plants to liven up the space and a little green would help me make it, well, a little greener!

    Get me closer! Oh man, where to begin? I want to paint the ceiling and install new lighting in the basement, but I’d also love some new items for my bedroom. Then there is the spare bedroom that has a color I have fallen out of love with . . . oh my, the possibilities and projects are endless.

    GET ME CLOSER… to finishing hanging the shelves all over the house. My closet, pantry, and desk all have piles of “goods” patiently waiting on the floor nearby, for their permanent home on a shelf above. Its making me crazy…

    The landscaping was such a mess when we moved into our house a few years ago, it’s better, but still not nearly as nice as I’d like it to be.

    Get me (my husband) closer to finishing the master shower tile project that has been in the works since October 2010 when I asked him the clean the shower :) We had a fiberglass in closure and he decided that it was time to tear it out instead of cleaning it so that he could create a tiled shower instead. Every weekend he says that he’ll finish it but it just doesn’t get done. When I got pregnant is feb 2011, I was told it’d be done before the baby got here, well she’ll 4 months old now and were still showering in the extra bathroom. One day IT WILL get done, I’ve even treated to hire a contractor :) I know he’ll do it, it’s just going to get done when HE’S ready to work on it!

    GET ME CLOSER to moving into our home! We bought a house built in 1958 that hasn’t been updated since. We are removing shag carpet, finishing original hardwood floors, painting, stripping wallpaper, and knocking down a wall to make a more welcoming living room and kitchen…all before we can move in!

    I am itching to wallpaper the “toilet closet” in my master bath. Not a huge project, but doable for the $100 AND who wouldn’t love to wake up in the morning and use the bathroom surrounded by some awesome pattern. Wouldn’t need near as much coffe I’m guessing :)
