Fab Freebie: The Closers

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

We gave random.org the assignment again of helping us choose our winner and they chose… Sarah (who could think of 10 little projects that have added up that she could use this for). Congrats Sarah!

Since the early days of YHL, we’ve been buddies with the foursome over at One Project Closer. Ethan, Fred, and their wives Jocie and Kim dish up tutorials, tool reviews and decor posts to help us all get (say it with me) one project closer to our dream house. Recently they’ve launched a series of “Pro-Follows” where the boys tag along with professional contractors to document big projects like building a deck (which we may be referencing soon ourselves). But if that makes you break into a sweat, perhaps their new The Better Half section (where the ladies tackle design and craft projects) is more your speed. Whichever suits you, One Project Closer is helping someone get one hundred dollars closer this week with a $100 prize to the home improvement store of your choice. Now that should suit just about everyone, right?

One Project Closer Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 to the home improvement store of your choice courtesy of One Project Closer
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GET ME CLOSER” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what house project do you want to be closer to finishing? Are you ready for that kitchen remodel to end (or to get started)? Do you want to get all of your spring cleaning out of the way? Or are you really just ready to be done decorating your bedroom?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 25th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of One Project Closer.

“GET ME CLOSER” to complete my guest bath and guest bedroom renovation. It hasn’t been redone since 1994. The walls are white, well dirty off-white. The carpet is a nasty red (who picks red for a carpet?) contractor grade carpet. The bathroom is an electric blue with Dollar General sticky floor tiles that have shifted. I spent $1000 at Home Depot on new paint and fixtures and a comfort height, elongated Kohler toilet (Yea comfort height!). I need to get new ceiling tiles and floors.

GET ME CLOSER — to a deck on the front of the house! Right now there is this “bridge” from the front door to the sidewalk. We call it “the moat”. It was that way when we moved in 5 years ago, and we’ve yet to do anything about it. It looks horrible and can really be quite dangerous in the dark (considering that there is no railing!).

Get me closer to finishing our guest bathroom! We’ve gotten ourselves a little deeper into the project that we intended, so we’re just at the point (after three weeks of work on repairing mildewed drywall) that we can start with the paint, floor, and other fun stuff. Sure would be nice to have a kick in the right direction! (Check out the ol’ blog for details of our project so far.)

Oh – I could use one of these right now – heck, who can’t always use one ;) Before the outdoor projects take over I’d like to put some floor to ceiling shelves in my kitchen, which include plans for a drop table. Besides the extra storage space I don’t have any decorating space in my small kitchen! A girl needs to have decorating space :) I’m picking up my new fridge tonight so the shelving project has been temporarily shelved. This would help :)

Get me closer to the end of our small kitchen renovation project. We are currently working on our butcher block counters and plan on adding bead board to both the backsplash and chair rail. My husband has already built a beautiful farmhouse table and matching chairs. I also want to add some decorative touches after all the big stuff has been done. I can’t wait to see it completely finished!

I need to be on the show “Love it or List it” or whatever it’s called. We need a new roof & gutters, both our bathrooms remodeled, repairs in our brick mortar, new paint through the whole house and hardwoods in 1/2 the house. Whew. Of course, if we could just finish the baseboard trim where we installed new hardwoods (the other half of the house), replace the thresholds in two of our exterior doors and install the trim on the kitchen island & cabinets we built and installed…no – we still wouldn’t feel any closer!
