How excited are we to be giving away a Model One Radio this week? You probably know that our cheery yellow one is one of our favorite things that we’ve bought for our new kitchen (more on that here). Sure it’s been dubbed “the best sounding table radio ever made” by some (MSNBC in this case), but our love for it stems first and foremost from its looks. It’s one good looking radio. But that’s not to say that we don’t crank up the radio (or an iPod playlist thanks to the auxiliary input in the back) and enjoy a family dance party every now and then…

RADIO ME! My BF and I turn on NPR first thing in the morning while we’re getting ready for work. We used to turn on TV news instead until we gagged too many times on its terrible non sequiturs.

RADIO ME! I use my radio to relax on the way home from work. I’m a therapist, which means that work can be pretty stressful, so blasting music and singing at the top of your lungs is a natural de-stresser.

I really only use my radio as my morning alarm, but always grew up with one in the kitchen. It was the biggest and most open room in the house (such is life in a split-level), and mom would listen to talk radio all day while cleaning and getting dinner ready.

We need a radio in the kids rooms for night time music. We have a antenna booster that plays whatever’s on our computer for about 50 feet in any direction, so we can pick it up on any radio in the house and it won’t bother the neighbors. I also listen to Dave Ramsey on my kitchen radio, when I happen to be there during the day.

One of my favorite uses for the radio is listening to our local public radio station while drinking coffee and perusing the Internet on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It doesn’t matter what they’re playing – it’s always a soothing start to a weekend day!
