How excited are we to be giving away a Model One Radio this week? You probably know that our cheery yellow one is one of our favorite things that we’ve bought for our new kitchen (more on that here). Sure it’s been dubbed “the best sounding table radio ever made” by some (MSNBC in this case), but our love for it stems first and foremost from its looks. It’s one good looking radio. But that’s not to say that we don’t crank up the radio (or an iPod playlist thanks to the auxiliary input in the back) and enjoy a family dance party every now and then…

Radio Me! I almost always have the radio on but it’s best use is when we leave it on for the dogs to distract them from outside noises while we go out.

RADIO ME! I actually don’t have a radio, so I use my NPR iPhone app to stream the news every morning and evening. It drives me nuts when the connection drops, though, so a real radio would be lovely!

In the mornings, I use my radio for news and talk. When I’m cleaning the house, I blast Billy Joel and Neil Diamond, just like Mom used to :-) The rest of the time, there is a lot of classic country playing. We also listen to a lot of college baseball games – the only way to follow our favorite team!

I tune in to Pandora Radio when I’m cooking. Usually when I’m stressed and trying to cook, so I turn on music to help me slow down and relax so that I don’t chop a finger off or forget a key ingredient. I also listen to a lot of audio books and radio theater programs with my 4 1/2 year old son.

Our small rural town has it’s own local radio station. Along with playing music they also announce local birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Until HIPAA came along they used to announce who had gone into the hospital and who had come home. They still read the obituaries and arrest reports every morning so we can keep up with all the goings-on in our community. Oh, and along with turning up the music to dance around my kitchen I would also use that Ember Red Model One Radio to listen to Detroit Tiger Baseball. Go Tigers!!!
