Fab Freebie: Under The Sea

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And the randomly selected person who’s starting their new year off with prize is… Jennifer (who answered this week’s question with a Canadian folk lyric – which I had to look up, mind you: “Lukey’s boat is painted green, Ha, me boys!”). Congrats Jennifer!

Raise your hand if you know what a bathymetric chart is. I didn’t before this giveaway, but it’s basically like a topographic map for what lies underwater. But the more important thing to know is that the married duo behind Below the Boat turns these charts into gorgeous, laser-cut, hand-assembled works of art. They’re beautifully intricate and fascinatingly detailed. And they’ve got lots of bodies of water from the east coast, west coast, and even some lakes in between. One of you is gonna win up to $300 worth of bathymetric chart-y goodnesst this week. So… ahoy!

Map Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Any single framed map up to $300 (or any combination of two maps that add up to $300) from Below The Boat.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BOAT ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …if you had to venture out on a boat, what kind would it be? Would you opt for a luxury cruise? Venture out on a sailboat? Are you more into kayaks or canoes? Maybe you’d like living on a house boat? Or perhaps any kind of boat is your ultimate nightmare?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 2nd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)

    BOAT ME!

OMG, this would be the PERFECT prize to win. We’ve put in an offer on a home in a water-oriented community and my grandfather was a waterman. I am having one of his nautical clocks restored and I could use this to add an additional layer of “nautical chic” to the decor!

To answer the question tho…I’d give anything to have one more chance to relax aboard “Miss Myrtle”. That was my grandpa’s boat name. So many great memories!

Wow, and they have done the Chesapeake which are the waters we’ll live on and my Gpa navigated. So awesome, even if I don’t win I’ll probably buy! :o)

BOAT ME! I’d have to choose my sea kayak. It lets me get into small places and little channels where a sailboat can’t go.

BOAT ME! I would love to take a week long cruise on a luxury sailboat with Windjammer. The thought of sleeping to the rocking of the waves….swimming in a secluded cove…enjoying a fresh caught seafood gourmet meal. Hope I win a map so I can dream of my cruise.

We thought that going to South Africa and getting on a boat to go Great White Shark cage diving seemed like the ULTIMATE dream! However my poor poor boyfriend developed sea sickness of the worst kind! No more boating trips for us!!!

Check out our video AND story on that here (and the many other stories about our one year adventure around the world) at: http://www.thelifescape.com/great-white-shark-cage-diving/

BOAT ME! If I had to pick, I’d go on a luxury cruise. I’ve never been on a cruise before, and I find smaller boats claustrophobic.

(P.S. In the unlikely chance that I win, this prize is going to my brother, who is a professional cartographer.)
