And the randomly selected person who’s starting their new year off with prize is… Jennifer (who answered this week’s question with a Canadian folk lyric – which I had to look up, mind you: “Lukey’s boat is painted green, Ha, me boys!”). Congrats Jennifer!
Raise your hand if you know what a bathymetric chart is. I didn’t before this giveaway, but it’s basically like a topographic map for what lies underwater. But the more important thing to know is that the married duo behind Below the Boat turns these charts into gorgeous, laser-cut, hand-assembled works of art. They’re beautifully intricate and fascinatingly detailed. And they’ve got lots of bodies of water from the east coast, west coast, and even some lakes in between. One of you is gonna win up to $300 worth of bathymetric chart-y goodnesst this week. So… ahoy!

Boat me! Wow, these are so very cool, especially since I come from a somewhat nautical family!
I grew up learning to sail on a Hobie Cat sailboat, so they will always have a special place in my heart. My dad’s newest sailboat is a Flying Scot and I have to say that one has been awesome (and super safe) to take my own son out on and continue the memories. :)

Cruising … ahhh! Love it!

Boat me! We had an old wood “cabin cruiser” going up, named the S.S. Minnow. Made for some rickety and good childhood memories. These days, though, I love sailing, and we hope to get our own little sailboat someday.

Boat Me! OMG I get scared being on the water but my grandmother was born on Lopez Island and my mom grew up there, so to have the San Juan Island chart would be the most amazing thing ever! I would totally give it to my mom to hang in her tiny beach cottage. So cool!!

I really, really love sailing The Black Dog tall ships on Martha’s Vineyard. Most romantic vacation of my entire life…except that my husband’s entire extended family was there.

On a sailboat in the Dalmatian Coast with my family!

By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea…
I would absolutely LOVE to take a luxury cruise someday. I know a bit about sailing, and have canoed, kayaked, ferried, motorboated, and even taken a gondola ride.
Last sailing trip was in the Puget Sound on a sailboat to see the beautiful city and boat traffic of Seattle.
I love maps too, these are awesome!
Happy New Year!
