Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). The best change since 2007 is the addition of my rescued pup Abby. There have been new apartments, new jobs, a new boyfriend and even a new car, but they just don’t snuggle as well as that little pup :)

Oh man have things changed. I graduated college in 2007. Now I am married, we own our first house and we foster english setters. We went from a one dog house to 3 (2 ours, 1 foster). We love it!

In 2007, I lived alone in a small room half a world away from everyone and everything I loved. I thought I had to, in order to do “groundbreaking research”. Four years later, my project still is not done but I have realized that what really matters is the ground you stand on and the people who stand by you – so I am ok with my research just being research. My work is, after all, just what I do and not who I am.

As for what as has changed since 2007, well: 1) I would no longer call myself a “newlywed”; 2) I have an about to turn 3 years old little boy; 3) I traded in my fast and fun convertable for a more sensible four door sedan; and 4) I’m running marathons(!!)

2007 was when I’d just graduated from college. So there’s a lot of change between then and now for me, but I’d say the biggest is that like you, I own and blog about my home. And back then I was living in a one-bedroom apartment!

We still packed up our whole life and moved to Northern Virginia so that I could pursue a career with The Nature Conservancy. It’s been a whirlwind! Actually there is little the same w/ us than there was in 2007. We have 2 more children, I now am a stay-at-home mom as opposed to the working mom I was in ’07. My husband is working in a totally different line of work than he was in 2007. I guess the only things that haven’t changed are our house and our cars.. :)
