It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). So let’s just say that we’ll be mighty jealous of the person who wins this week’s FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR gift card there (four year blogiversaries are for big prizes, after all). Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). My entire world has changed for the better since 2007.. Let’s see, no longer working for a boss that made me want to rip my hair out on a daily basis ( despite a job I loved ). Married my best friend and man of my dreams. Left my hometown in Florida to live a slightly nomadic lifestyle, traveling the Pacific Northwest with my hard-working hubby. Oh and art blog writer.

What’s different for me since 2007? Our family moved into a new-to-us house (which needs lots of work) and added a new member to our clan. It’s been a lot of work, but a lot of joy as well.

In the last four years my husband has finished his PhD in astrophysics, completed a post-doc position, switched fields, and has been working for over a year in a *real* job doing research and analysis for federal energy standards. I helped start an environmental science and engineering program in the high school where I teach physics. We have adopted a sweet and gentle pup, moved apartments, had a darling baby girl and are in the process of moving again. Wow, a lot happened in four years! Thanks for making me think of our progress; sometimes it feels as though we don’t get much done around here!
