Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). We’ve had a lot of “character-building” things happen to us in the last 4 years (illness, loss of house due to tornado, infertility – to name just a few) but I like to think that we are stronger and better as a result!

In the last 4 years… I have had 3 children! All boys! 2007 my oldest son was born, 2008 brought my 2nd boy and in 2011, we had another boy! He is now 3 months. Amazing the changes just a few years brings.

Yep, living in a new house since 2007 … We went from large 2-story that we owned to a small rental when we became empty-nesters last year and, low and behold, they birds have returned to the (much smaller) nest! Have also graduated one kid from college and the other from high school in those four years too!

This is a good one because in 2007, I was living in China! I was just getting ready to start dating my husband too, who was also living there :). So in Sept of 07 I would have been running around teaching English classes and taking Mandarin lessons five days a week at the university. Now I’m a mom and stay at home and am finishing university online, so big difference!

Wow, since 2007 I gave birth to my 2nd son, quit my job after 15 years, stayed home for 2 1/2 lovely years with my boys, then I hit terrible times and had to find a place to live, a car, a job, and learn to care for 2 young boys on my own. Divorced now but doing great!!

In 2007 I had a miserable job at one of the nation’s largest banks and was in a bad relationship. That bank went under, the relationship crumbled and two days later I met my now-husband. I’m now at a job that I love with a husband I adore and just moved into a beautiful house we are having fun making our own. I never would have pictured this in 2007, because it would have seemed too good to be true.
