It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). Hmmm, Everything has changed for me. I had just found out my husband was cheating on me (yes, ME, the perfect wife!) and I thought my life was going to be a pit of darkness. Little did I know, my best years were still ahead of me. Since then I’ve moved a few times, bought a house, been named teacher of the year, finished my Master’s and met the man of my dreams. Pit of darkness? No way! A chance for me to find out what I’m really made of!

My life has changed dramatically in 4 years.
In 2007 I had just started my senior year of high school, played clarinet in the band, I thought I had the boyfriend that was “the one,” and ready for high school to be OVER!
Four years later, I’m a volunteer firefighter in my community, I’m 6 months away from getting my associates degree for interior design, and actually with “the one” (not the same guy!)
& I wouldn’t change a thing. : )

Nearly every aspect of my life has changed since 2007 – Looking back, I truly never imagined such wonderful adventures would be ahead.
In 2007 I said “I Do” to my Infantry Soldier, packed up my life in Georgia and headed out to the always rainy Washington State to support my husband in his Army endeavors. In 2008 we welcomed the sweetest little girl into our lives and in 2009 we buckled down and kept our heads high as we said “goodbye” to our soldier as he headed out for a 12-month deployment. We said our “hello’s” again in 2010 and spent the remainder of the year catching up on missed family time. We’ve mostly been apart for 2011 but with the hustle and bustle of being first time home builders, we are quickly attempting to make this new house a home as we’ll be saying our “goodbye’s” yet again in a few short months.
I couldn’t have imagined any of this. Yet, I couldn’t be more happy to have had this journey.
