Fab Freebie: West In Show

***Uh oh – looks like we like we hit capacity on this post with over 10,000 comments! But this giveaway is closed anyways, so I guess it’s okay.***

It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). So let’s just say that we’ll be mighty jealous of the person who wins this week’s FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR gift card there (four year blogiversaries are for big prizes, after all). And not that you asked, but if you need any help picking out what to buy – might we suggest some of these lurvely items below (Sherry had trouble picking just six things, so we added an extra row and went with nine):

West Elm Moodboard

Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). Front & Main actually officially launches next week, but they’re giving all of us a sneak peek today. Oh and if you scroll down a bit while you’re there, you might recognize some familiar faces…

West Elm Blog

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to West Elm (!!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on THIS OTHER POST with the words “WEST ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since we’re celebrating starting our blog four years ago, tell us how your world is different than it was in 2007. Do you live in a new place? Have a new job? Are you in a new relationship? Or maybe you just have a new hairdo or tattoo?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 21st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of West Elm.

I got hitched in 2007 & was living in Chicago… since then, we’ve moved south twice and now live in sunny Florida (after a pitstop in NC). I’ve switched jobs and the hubs went from working full-time to full-time dental school. Amazing how many changes can come about in 4 years!

What is different since 2007 is that my husband and I moved into a new (for us) house and have a list a mile long of fun remodel projects that would definitely be enhanced by winning the West Elm giveaway! Also different is that I had a children’s book published since then and our sweet dog passed away leaving a huge empty space in our hearts and home.
    Love West Elm, Love YHL!
    thanks for the opportunity,
    Sandy

In 2007, I was living in a 500 sq ft apt downtown Chicago. Now I own a 1,000 sq ft home by myself (filled with DIY projects, of course!). Interestingly, my mortgage is much cheaper than my rent was! Zipcodes change everything!

Since 2007… my once 9 year old son – has evolved into a hilarious, respectful and handsome 13 year old teenager. The guy of my dreams and I got married, and I’ve spent all that time trying to let our first home evolve on its own instead of pushing the decorate NOW button.

    WEST ME…

In 2007 I graduated from college. I was 33, and after a lay-off with no job offers in sight, I finally went back and finished what I’d begun, but failed to finish, 15 years before. I can’t say that I’ve blazed any trails since then, but I FEEL different. Like something that sat on the back of my shoulder (thumping me regularly in the head), has been conquered…and very, very well, if I may say so :) Now I work from home — it’s a very VERY P/T job, but I’m doing work I never could have done without my degree. And it’s way more my style. Way to go me :)

It’s actually like I’m living someone else’s life comparing where I am today to where I was in 2007:
    1. I moved from Michigan to Florida in Sept. 2007
    2. I lost my mom to cancer in Nov. 2009
    3. I married my sweetheart in Nov. 2009
    4. I bought a great house in Aug. 2010
Everything happens for a reason and I am so happy where I am, but can’t believe how far I’ve come!

Since 2007, I have gotten married and started a new job, that I'm now realizing isn't as fulfilling as I thought it would be. Hopefully in the next four years I'll manage to STAY married but have a job that makes me happy(ier?)!

    Congrats on the blogiversary!

In 2007, I still lived with my parents, going to community college with no direction in my life whatsoever. I worked at a video store and ate chicken nuggets and ruffles potato chips every night when I got home at 1:00 a.m.
Now, I find myself engaged, living in an adorable two-bedroom condo (with an awesome landlord who will allow us to customize whatever we want) with a one-year-old daughter (with a kick-butt avocado nursery) to make me laugh every second of every day. I have a career path that can actually take me somewhere, and adult-sized bills to spend my paychecks on. :)
