It’s no secret that we love West Elm (we own two daybeds and a desk among other things from their store). Not only is West Elm helping us celebrate four years of blogging, they’re also celebrating the launch of their new blog Front & Main (named for the Brooklyn street corner where their original brick-and-mortar store sits). Seriously, what hasn’t changed?
New man (that I met in 07) who came with a new last name. New degree program (was finishing B.S. and now seeing the light at the end of Ph. D. tunnel). New house (that seriously needs some decorating- we more than doubled the sqft of our previous, already sparse apartment). New haircut (chopped off 17 inches for donation- probably started growing it in 07). New addiction to YHL (seriously. I spent a long time wondering what the fuss was about, but then the addiction struck a couple of months ago. Spent all of my free time for a month reading the entirety of the archives, and yes, it can be done in a month.)

WEST ME!!! OH MY GOD PLEASE WEST ME I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW AWESOME THIS GIVE-AWAY IS.
Anyway. Enough all-caps of excitement. Back in 2007, I was finishing my freshman year of college and starting my sophomore year. I had horrible undiagnosed and untreated social anxiety that was making my life miserable, but I also had made the best friends of my life who became my family, and I had finally realized without a glimmer of a doubt what I want to do with my life (which is acting).
Since then, I’ve graduated, my anxiety is under control, and I now have a fabulous boyfriend of almost three years (who I met during the fall of ’07!). My family of friends is now scattered across the country instead of right down the hall, but I still love them with all my heart and keep in touch. Some things are better and some things are worse, but that’s how it goes, isn’t it? If nothing else, I know myself better than I ever have before, and I’ve discovered a strength and courage in myself I never could have dreamed of.
And that’s my essay, haha. :)

West me! Oh my goodness, my life is so very different than it was 4 years ago! In 2007, I was in Birmingham, Ala., living in a 1-BR apt, had a boyfriend with a dog, and had a stressful job. Now I live in Orlando, married the boyfriend, bought a house, got a second dog, changed to a MUCH less stressful job, and we’re expecting our first baby in the Spring! :) I grew up!

So much has changed in 4 years. It’s hard to believe I have been following your blog that long. I start right you posted your wedding and have been a loyal reader ever since. I think what has changed is my love of blogs.
