    JOSS ME

Luckiest moment was losing out on the first home I made an offer on – by just $5000 – because I ended up in exactly the home I was meant to have.

JOSS ME! Hey, I’m new here and I love your blog and your new(ish) house! One of my luckiest “home moment” was in finding three matching yellow mid-mod school chairs when a stall at a tiny local antique mall was going out of business. I got there as they were packing up and I think I paid $15 for the set!

    JOSS ME!

My luckiest moment happened just last week, when I found an amazing and giant vintage oak cutting table at an antique store. I was in love even before I realized that it was marked down to less than 20% (!!!) of it’s original price.

And I love Joss & Main. It is definitely my favorite of all the flash sale sites, so I know I could put this prize to good use!

My luckiest moment will be coming up soon. Due to some unfortunate circumstances….my husband and I lost our first home 7 years ago, however, after a year of rebuilding our credit and now just a little saving…we will soon be out to purchase another home. After years of decorating apartments, I cannot tell you how excited I am to make a “real” home “our” home. Wish us luck!

Luckiest moment? We took our very first stab at gardening last spring and over-ambitiously planted many beds of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and leafy greens. We were planning to hold a big graduation party in our backyard for my husband and were just praying everything was still alive by then, but by May everything was growing (practically out of control!) far beyond our expectations. When the party rolled around, we looked like gardening bad @sses, even though we were complete newbies. :)

I just bought a used sofa – for a very small price. It did have slipcovers I wasn’t a big fan of though… when I went to order new slipcovers, I discovered that the sofa I bought has a manufacturing defect. This means that the company is now going to pay to pick up my sofa, and then deliver a brand new sofa with slipcovers of my choice to my house. Pretty excited!

My luckiest home improvement moment, I think, was visualizing my dream master bathroom and having it turn out EXACTLY as I pictured it. That rarely happens for me because the things I picture aren’t actually on the market and I have to substitute with something else.

Joss me! Our best home moment: we offered on a foreclosed 100-year-old fixerupper at about 60k below the original asking price, and were flat rejected. We waited two months and offered even lower (heh), and bam, offer accepted no counter-offer or nothin’. Take that Fanny Mae!

Oooooh, JOSS ME!! I’m loving the chance to win this stellar shopping spree and share my most fabulous shopping find with fellow thrifters! last black friday I drug my mom out to the OUTLETS (read worst place to christmas shop ever!) in search of a dining room table to fill at least one of the dormant rooms in my new house. We stopped first (and last as it would turn out) at the crate and barrel outlet in NJ, where at first glance most of the tables were dinged up pretty bad (honestly those were the ones i perused first thinking they were more in my price range). Leave it to my amazing mother to go for the gusto and point out the Baxter extention dining table (http://reviews.crateandbarrel.com/7258/14508/baxter-extension-dining-table-reviews/reviews.htm). With very few dings in sight, I cautiously asked her the price (I say cautiously because I have this habit of falling in love with the most expensive items before ever finding out the price…. seriously how does this happen? Wouldn’t my boyfriend like to know! Anyhoo, best part of the story right here….drumroll please! The formerly $1,999 table was on clearance for $149!!!!! Yes, I typed that 93% discount correctly! The quality was amazing, the price was jaw-dropping and I was ripping out my wallet! Only one problem, we were 2 hours from home and driving a ford escape….dun dun dun! This wouldn’t seem like too much of a problem except the table is ONE solid piece, that is one solid piece which was TWO feet longer than the vehicle (yes I sent my mom out to the car with the tape measure while I literally guarded the big ol’ beaut). We decided to go for it and had a plan to tie down the back hatch with the back legs sticking out, and somehow we pulled it off (with the salesmen looking comically along as they, for liability reasons, are not allowed to secure pieces for customers, only lift)! So, on a cold November night, two gals drove 40 mph down the PA turnpike relishing in the glory and cautiously watching for every bump! Wish I could post a pic of Mr Baxter in his new home (and the price-tag for proof…I’ve taken to documenting my finds a la bower-power)! Thanks for letting me share, and as always thanks a ton for all you share with us! Cloth diapers and all!!

Luckiest Moment: After a full year of searching, 30+ offers on houses (all but one was denied!), and a stinkin’ FOUR month long escrow, my husband and I bought our 1st house together :) Some might have said those were all signs we should have given up, but we didn’t! We bought our house at the ripe ages of 20 and 21. Crazy decision? Yes. Good decision? Yes. It’s been so much fun renovating and making this 1970’s house our modern home. I still cannot believe we managed to do it!
