We always wanted a piano but didn’t have the budget to buy one. Our friends had a piano that had been passed down through family to them but they had no space for it. They gave it to us so it would have a good home with someone who would love and use it!

I consider every time I ever painted a room in my house lucky because I never changed my mind about the colors chosen. Painting is no picnic, so the fact that I’ve had to do each room only once (in the two short years I’ve lived there) seems lucky to me!!!

JOSS ME! My luckiest moment with our house would be GETTING the house! My friend happened to drive by it on her way into work the day they put up the sign, I called my realtor that morning, saw it in the afternoon, and put in an offer the next morning. That was house purchase try #4. We haven’t had a ton of luck in the house since… could use a little JOSS!

Joss Me – Our luckiest home improvement projects are those that actually work out the first time around. We have an old house and it seems everything we do requires a plan B. The good thing is that sometimes plan B ends up better than plan A.

Just closed on our first place yesterday and did demo all afternoon. Inherited the most lovely chair from my grandparents that I had called “dibs” on as a kid. Needless to say my siblings and cousins are totally jealous. Makes its that much more satisfying. Works perfectly with the decor we are going for. Can’t wait to get it in the house! SCORE!

My (really, our) luckiest home improvement moment by far was returning from our honeymoon to a completely remodeled house! Our families and friends tore down the gray paneling, tore out the nasty 70’s carpet, drywalled, painted (one base coat so we would have the final say), and put down hardwood laminate flooring. AMAZING!! We had remodeled the bathroom a few months back and had planned to continue on to the rest of the house. Our families knew exactly what we were planning on doing, so it was perfect!

Joss Me! Found the perfect sofa at “The Dump” (the store, not the landfill), then found out it they were willing to deal to get it out of there — gave me half off the original discounted price. I’ve been back to the store many times before and since then and haven’t found squat — that was the one time I found something I wanted and could afford.

My luckiest moment was a few weeks after moving into my house and not having anything. I happened upon a Wal-mart that was renovating and they had tons of home stuff at ridiculous discounts. I got floor lamps, curtains, mattress pads, throws, pillows, and tons of other stuff for like $70, saving $200. Woohoo!

I worked in an antique shop in high school and when my dad mentioned that some of my great-grandparents old furniture was stashed inside my great-grandpa’s old train car manufacturing plant that was about to be torn down, I knew I had to rescue the furniture. I made my brothers and their friend (who is now my husband) haul a trailer to the plant and help me. With some refinishing and reupholstering I now have a BEAUTIFUL vanity w/ matching bench and two chairs, as well as a huge (kitchen island-size) cabinet w/ shallow drawers that my great grandpa stored his blueprints in. And it was almost destroyed w/ the wrecking ball.

The luckiest moment would have to have been when we used a new painting technique to paint my room. We used the sponging technique that makes the walls look like marble. The first coat of paint was very bright and I got very worried…but the two sponge coats on top made the room B-E-A-UTIFUL!!!!

Our luckiest moment in home ownership came when a customer (i’m a waitress) offered me their brand new designer couch after it literally wouldn’t fit in their doors after a recent move. My livingroom re-design budget went down the drain after our boiler broke this winter, so I am THRILLED! Buh-bye Ikea couch from Craigslist, heelllllooooo velvet beauty!

My luckiest home improvement moment was walking into our Goodwill in search of an inexpensive headboard to cover and finding a perfect one for a mere $8-SCORE! However the best part was when my husband walked out with our receipt it said 50% off and only cost us 4 beans!!! Combine that with the on sale suede curtain I used to cover it and we were two lucky ducks!!!
