JOSS ME! I feel like I’ve had tons of lucky moments finding just the right thing at thrift stores and yard sales. But one that stands out was when I found a beautiful antique bed and dresser on the side of the road. Free antiques = awesome.

My luckiest house moment WOULD be winning this! My PhD program got cancelled and I have to transfer schools, move into a TINY studio apartment, and leave my fiance behind in a totally different state :(

I have to rebuy everything for myself that we’ve already bought together, and try to make my new apartment/closet upbeat and cheery for those sad days I’m missing my future hubby. And I love to cook and need all new kitchen stuff too!

Joss me! Our luckiest moment was also in the buying process. We put an offer in on a condo and the owner wouldn’t budge- but a month later, and we’re under contract: same building, same price, almost twice the square footage! Just a little more DIY. :)

JOSS ME! our luckiest home moment was when we put in an offer on the house another couple had already made an offer and were in serious talks with the sellers. Thankfully (luckily?) they didn’t have enough for down payment and we came in and scooped it up! It’s our dream starter home and we love it! (and yes, I do feel a little bad that their loss was our gain, but we love the house and hope they found one that they could afford!)

Our luckiest moment was when our apartment was struck by lightening and all three of televisions were fried (even though we had surge protectors on every, single one of them! The surge protector company actually gave us a settlement!). The next day, as we were taking them to the dumpster, we found a HUGE TV just sitting there … ripe for the picking! At first, we thought it was someone who had suffered our same fate. But, we took a chance and brought it home … sure enough! It worked! It’s not a plasma or anything fancy – just a humungo flat screen! YAY! Talk about luck!

We weren’t even looking for a new house. I was going through a real estate website looking for interior decorating ideas and ran across a house at a fantastic price…and it was brand new. We looked, we offered, we closed one month later. 4 years later, we still love it.

JOSS ME! We had signed a purchase agreement with a house, but found out during the inspection that it was structurally very unsound (the unlucky part). Two days later, we went and looked at a few more homes (we had looked at over 30 before settling on the first house) and found a house that night! The great part was that we love it way more than the first house we had decided on (the lucky part).

JOSS ME! My luckiest moment came when I was randomly shopping at a local flea market and saw a 1952 Westinghouse fridge sitting on their back dock. It was in great working condition and they were having to take it to the recycling plant because they legally could not sell it due to the latching handle. I offered them $10 and hauled it off. With a fresh coat of black paint and good cleaning it is now a great conversation piece…and cooler of beverages!

Our luckiest house moment was finding 4 extra buckets of the khaki paint the builders used in our garage. We also found 5 or 6 boxes of the tile they used. It is so nice to have these things on hand in case we ever need them. It is lucky, because we bought our house “used”. So the previous owners essentially left us the paint and the tile!

We had some good luck with furniture recently. We have a little furniture consignment shop down the street from our house and as I was driving by to deposit my paycheck, I saw the exact glider I had been looking for for our nursery and it ended up being cheaper than any of the used ones on craigslist!

When my husband first moved in together, we found our dream apartment on our first visit based on a Craigslist posting without an image (I almost NEVER search without an image). It was fate. We lived there for 2.5 years and loved it. We recently moved again, and didn’t find a house we loved as much, but found something that we still enjoy fixing up.

My home was a foreclosure listing and the previous owners had renovated it….so even though the house was a mess, the main components of the house were only a few years old. My luckiest moment was actually getting my offer accepted and paperwork approved. Having the contract approved thru the foreclosure company was a long drawn out process (3 month headache), but 4 months later the house was mine!

Joss Me! My luckiest moment was about 3.5 years ago when I waited too long to get a Pottery Barn that I loved. It disappeared from my local store and from online. Out of desperation I called PB, and they found one in a store in Texas – and it was $250 less than I thought I was going to pay. I ended up getting the wool 8×10 rug for $220. Wahoo!

On our first Christmas Eve as a married couple, a drunk driver ran her van through my husband and I’s living room. However, she missed the Christmas tree & gifts! Pretty lucky. We were able to totally re-do the house, inside and out, and sold it this spring after only 4 days on the market. It’s all about perspective — we have been very lucky indeed!

Our luckiest house moment was when we bought our current/first house. Long story short, we had been hunting for months, finally found a house, but it was a short sale. We submitted an offer, but nothing happened due to a bad agent on our end & their end. Several months later we got a new agent and resubmitted the exact same offer on the exact same house. Whether it was the new agent, the seller came to reality, or some kind of stars aligning magic, the bank approved our offer in like three months (crazy fast for a short sale) and we got our first house!

Good thing we got so lucky because we may never move again since our first house buying experience was so painful and long (12 months total) since we were dealing with a short sale, but that’s a story for another day…

JOSS ME! I recently because a first time homeowner, and finding my house was a lucky break! Comparables in the area were generally out of my price range, and the first time we drove by it my reaaltor even said “That house was just flipped, but it’s probably out of your range” – and we moved on to a house up the block that I hated. Luckily I checked the listing, discovered it was a bit cheaper than anticipated, and am now happily living in the place of my dreams!
