We actually found our current house because a friend knew a friend was thinking about selling. Just thinking, but we met, looked at the house, loved it, and she decided we were the perfect couple to give it to instead of renting it out! We were so blessed!

My luckiest moment with our new house started off as the unluckiest moment….coming home from vacation and the downstairs was flooded, but my wonderful in-laws own their own flooring business so we got all new floors in our house! Another lucky moment that I’ve had recently was finding the fabric for our kitchen windows online for super duper cheap..the fabric runs $40 a yard and I found it for $10.99 a yard! oh yessssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My luckiest moment in home improvement was when the kitchen faucet I had been pining over (but at $300 was never going to purchase) turned up on Craigslist for $60… brand new! Someone had purchased it for a home improvement project of their own, decided on something else, and been unable to return it.
The best part? In the year since I’d first fell in love with it, it had been discontinued… and this one had been sitting in a basement just waiting for me :)

Ended up paying half the price for this one as opposed to the high sticker price of the store-brand that we’d found. It fits perfectly in our new living room! Cheap, but beautiful sectional FTW!

I recently found a pair of large, distressed white mirrors at a garage sale and got them for $30! The lady said they had been really expensive and the wood was from Thailand (not sure if that’s true, but it makes a good story) but that they didn’t fit in with her new apartment’s motif! How could they not? They’re adorable and I love them! Hooray luck!

JOSS ME! My luckiest moment was calling our realtor when I got a foreclosure listing. It had been on the market for months. The house from the pictures looked pretty dumpy. BUT……. One look at the 2500 sq. foot 4 br 3 bath house on half an acre right smack in the middle of my work and my husband’s work and we easily saw that hte ‘dump’ was just a realtor with a crappy camera and taking pictures before the carpets were cleaned. My house has character. It’s older, and it has some super awesome potential, but it was a STEAL and we love it!

Our latest lucky home improvement score was finding the comforter and sheets we’ve been coveting for our master bedroom on sale at Garnet Hill for 70% off. Our old set saw us through two years of cohabitation, 11 years of marriage, one cat, three dogs, and two children…and looked all the worse for wear. My luckiest home moment was the serendipitous desire of my father’s cousin to sell her house to myself and my husband! It’s in the city where my husband works, and she’s offering us an amazing deal. Our best homeowner luck was selling our condo in TWO DAYS! We sold it to a really nice retired couple from Atlanta who bought it sight unseen (no, really, they only saw photos). What made it really lucky was that we closed escrow two days before leaving to go to Africa for our wedding!
Now we’re all settled in to our brand new house and loving DIYing our little hearts out (thanks to some inspiration and tips from y’all). Will share pics/story of our built-in adventures with you very soon!! (Here’s a hint: it involves white paint and blue paint…)

My luckiest home moment was shortly after I moved in with my boyfriend. When I first moved in, we only had a twin blow up mattress and an entertainment center. But I was so in love that I snuggled up next to him on that tiny inflatable bed every night and enjoyed every minute of it. Anyways, shortly after I moved in, his grandparents gave us a sofa and a loveseat that we slept on until he got a good enough commission check and we were able to buy a new bed.
