Our luckiest home moment was when we opened to door to our first house on closing day, only to find a bunch of furniture, a big screen and misc. items that the previous home owners left behind. They had moved to China, from Michigan, and couldn’t take any of it with them. Score! We ended up not having to sit on milk crates in our family room after all. :)

After spending 3 years hunting for a sofa that my 6’4 husband and 5’3 self found comfortable, we enjoyed it in our Durham, NC home for a little over a year before we moved to a Boston-area condo. Our movers lugged the sofa up 3 flights of stairs and heroically attempted to fit it through the door — to no avail! Our luckiest home moment was when the movers (with the help of a very tall ladder) actually managed to move the sofa into the condo through the dining room windows. We would have been so sad if it didn’t fit.

JOSS ME! And so far, the luckiest I’ve been is picking up a table and six chairs for $60 at a yard sale. My husband and I just painted and reupholstered the chairs. They look lovely, but the backs are chipping every time (a guest) bumps them into the wall. What do I do? Should I apply a gloss or something?
