After many weeks of searching for the perfect house, I found a perfect little bungalow in my favorite neighborhood. Thanks to an amazing realtor I looked at the house the day before it went on the market and put in an offer at 8 am the day it went on the market. My first offer was accepted by 11 am. It was only listed for 3 hours! Such luck :)

Our luckiest find was our dining table and chairs, from Craigslist. They were 1/3 the list price, like new, and matched our china cabinet and another display piece we had inheritted from my husband’s grandmother. All beautiful, Amish-made mission style, solid oak, matching finish.

our condo find was incredibly lucky. awesome view and location, but it was ‘pending’ when i found it. i stalked the address just in case a different one on the same street came available. out of curiousity one day i plugged in its MLS number and it was FOR SALE. we put an offer in the parking lot on the hood of the car. love it.

My luckiest home reno moment happened with the bathroom redo. I have a little ledge that I searched all over for a nice piece of marble or something like that to cover it, but I couldn’t find the right width anywhere. Finally, I found the right one, but it was only sold by the case. I explained my situation and the sales woman went to the back and got me a remnant FOR FREE that fits perfectly!

My luckiest moment of recent (I have had a few) was when I donated to a friend of a friend’s garage sale to raise money for medical bills for their little girl. I went over at 4 in the morning to help them get set up (kids are sleeping and husband sleeping, perfect time to socialize and help someone out.) Anyway, the whole time I helped I refused to ‘shop’ for anything because I was donating. Once the sale was over I remembered I was looking for a small sewing machine table. I called and said if they happen to have one left I am in. A few hours later the perfect sewing table showed up at my doorstep, free of charge.

I am truly one of the luckiest gals ever when it comes to bargains. I would have to say its a toss up for my chocolate brown couch that i got for $35 at a thrift store. (It was practically new and has down cushions – score!) Or my newest bargain, and that is an amazing moroccan-ish style that i got for, wait-for-it $10! Beautiful solid wood, dove tailed drawers – be still my heart! Its at the furniture spa waiting to finish its makeover….and by furniture spa, i mean garage, and by make over i mean waiting for me to strip off its outdated orang-ish finish, and re-stain it some shade of beautiful!
