    Joss Me!! {Please}

    I helped my then-fiance sell his house…potential buyer walked in on me taking a shower {didn’t see me naked or anything} and a few days later made an offer on the house! I’m pretty sure it was luck.

    My luckiest home improvement moment was when the man of my dreams turned out to be a general contractor who can build or fix anything!! Even luckier is when he said “I do” 17 years ago. Little did he know what he agreed to, lol!

    My luckiest home improvement find: I found a Dremel (it even worked) with accessories and a carrying case for $2 at Goodwill. I don’t think whoever priced it could figure out what it was…

    My luckiest moment was finding matching mid-century Lane highboy and lowboy (credenza) dressers at a vintage store in town. I grabbed the tags and bought the set immediately.

    JOSS ME!! We DID find our house the day the sign went in the yard, before it was even on the MLS…after looking for nearly 18 months! We were dead set on a specific neighborhood and not going over our budget, so it took longer. And this house had a built in renter in the upstairs apartment who paid over half our mortgage for over six years before we renovated and took over that space. Score!!

    JOSS MEEEE!!! My luckiest home improvement so far was having an issue with the first house my hubby and I were going to buy (there was a giant crack in the foundation) That issue put us back on the search and we found and just closed on a wonderful house. We’re so excited to call it home :)

    Hmmm, my luckiest house moment is either falling in love (and marrying) an awesome guy who already had a house and giving me free-reign (more or less) to redecorate.

    Or…finding this dresser on Craig’s List for $20 and refinishing it.

    My kind of lucky story…I had my first apartment that allowed you to paint as long as you painted over your paint with white when you moved out. I went nuts with stenciling (Think green ivy all over everything…several years ago people!) Repainting everything white was not going to be fun! They showed my apartment to the NEW tenants and they loved it and said they would only rent the apartment if the stencil stayed! Lucky for me!

    My husband scored 2 of these dining room chairs (but in cottage white) at our local Target for $2.98, total!!! They were an online return to the store and he watched them like a hawk until they were finally cheap enough to merit a pitty buy. That’s definitely our best/luckiest deal to date!

    Joss Me. Yep, we were the first people to look at our at our home day it went on the market. We made an offer the next day and it was accepted! Prior to finding our place, we looked at over 40 condos around our neighborhood and nothing seemed right. Our real estate agent told us this was the last place he could show us in the neighborhood we were looking and that we were going to have to start expanding our boundaries. Just in the nick of time!

    Joss Me!! I needed a new queen fitted sheet badly, and happened to go to the goodwill that day and figured I would check to see if they had anything decent. A nice lady who worked there asked me if I needed any help, and I told her I needed a new fitted sheet. She pulls out a brand new Yves DeLorme fitted sheet for $4!!! Angels wings could not have gotten me to that register faster.

    JOSS ME! I have 2 luckiest moments in home renos. First, I found a rocking chair sitting in the back room of my office and they gave it to me for free. I took it home, painted and re-upholstered it and LOVE it. Second, I bought my fixer-upper for $25000 (yep that’s right for the price of a car) and it wasn’t in that bad of shape and in a great neighborhood.

    JOSS ME! My luckiest home improvement moment happened when I was talking to my very favorite aunt and uncle. I mentioned wanting to change out our kitchen flooring, not thinking that both of them work for a tile company. A few weeks and only $600 later, we have a gorgeous ceramic and glass mosaic tile floor in our kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and entryway. Lucky us!

    Our luckiest home moment was being the lowest bidder on our house- long, long story, but the short version is that at the 11th hour, the hubs and I decided to add the $450 for a home warranty back to our offer and pay it ourselves later. Our real estate agent later found out- even though I guess she shouldn’t have known this from the seller’s agent/bank/lawyer/whomever let it slip- that we beat out the next closest bid by only $250!! Yay for listening to our gut and scoring our perfect house!
