My luckiest moment in home ownership was getting great neighbors. The second was finding a local guy in the hood who we hired to put in wood floors, they are beautiful!

My luckiest home related event was finding our house. We saw it the day after it went on the market and put in an offer right away. There were three other offers the same day and they accepted ours. I feel super lucky to have such a great house!

    “Joss ME!!!” Por Favor

Holy Bologna…I have had a few lucky home improvement moments since we moved in here, but I think the best one is the dresser that we were given when we first moved in (everyone we knew was eager to ‘dump’, I mean, give us their unwanted treasures). We hung on to it and after a little TLC, a.k.a, a good sanding or two (or four), some primer, and a new paint job, it now resides in our someday-baby-room (we’re workin’ on DIY-ing a little one ; ) We are just in love with the way it turned out and that it cost less than $20 to do! : )

My lucky moment was finding our house 60k under assessment, also just days before the end of the 8k tax credit window. Imagine our surprise when we realized that once past all the overgrowth in the backyard, we had lake-front property!!! (Okay, it’s a retention pond, but it LOOKS like a lake)

Alas, I had hoped your blog subject was referring to Joss Whedon, all-time tv genius mastermind of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” as well as the amazing but short series “Firefly” and its accompanying movie “Serenity.” But that’s okay, $500 bucks is good too :p

I took a trip to my local IKEA last Sunday to buy a chair for my bedroom so that I could have a little reading corner while also filling an empty corner that just didn’t look right. So I called up my friend and off we went. I went in expecting to spend somewhere around 100 buck on this chair(and this was with the cheapest options the chair offered) and lo and behold, it was marked down a few days before to 69 dollars! Woohoo! I was so happy. Though I still managed to spend over a 100 dollars that day…

Oh my!! Joss & Main!!???? Sign me up! I don’t have any cool home improvement stories, other than I love a good deal on home decor, and thoroughly enjoy it. I rent right now, but I’ve been lucky with my landlord. My 5 year old daughter, Maci was diagnosed with Pre B Acute Leukemia July 13. We were going to have to move, due to me no longer being able to work. I got a phone call from our landlord last Friday, saying the owner of our house wanted to help us out so we didn’t have to move! For the next several months, until I can go back to work, he cut our rent in half!! I was extremely stunned, and truly believed it was a miracle!! My daughter is doing very well, and we might be able to go home this weekend!! Thank you Jesus!!

I found a beautiful, all oak dresser on the side of the road. At the time it was painted hideous pastel colors (over eight colors on one dresser–YIKES!) I didn’t know what kind of wood it was…but I loaded it into the car anyway. After stripping the paint, and hours (yes, HOURS!) of sanding, a beautiful dresser was revealed! I poly’d it a bajillion times, and it is lovely! Yay free dresser!

“JOSS ME!” Most of the items in our house are hand me downs. We are slowly upgrading furniture as we have money. I love the art work we have in the house. We splurged on a couple pieces of art on our honeymoon and had them framed and I love them.

While we’re not quite ready to buy (the hubs is still in law school), we found the perfect rental house just recently. We were set to turn in an application on a sufficient-but-not-the-apartment-of-our-dreams place, when my husband checked the craigslist rentals one last time. It was the perfect place and more! We’re so lucky to have discovered it.
