Joss Me!!! Luckiest moment ever was finding THEE Perfect house on only our 2nd try. My husband and I were the backup offer and I was on pins and needles the whole time, hoping and praying that the 1st offer would fall through. I would cry thinking that any day we would get a call from our agent saying we lost it. But, Thank GOD, we got the call saying we got it! Now, the perfect house, in the perfect location, with the perfect size, in the perfect neighborhood is ours!

My luckiest moment was when we sold our first home to the gentleman who owned the adjacent lot! He saw our sign in the yard right after we put it out, grabbed my husband while he was mowing the grass, and gave us a down payment without ever setting foot inside the house! He wanted our little 2b/2bath ranch for its rental possibilities. We immediately took the sign down and did a little jig in the kitchen. Also he let us rent for 6 months while we built our current home!

My luckiest home improvement moment (that I can think of right now) happened just yesterday. We found an amazingly wonderful deal on laminate hardwood floors, put in the order and we should be getting them this week. It may not feel like the luckiest moment when we’re attempting the install though…

One of our most fortunate ‘home moments’ has to be when we inherited a full Art Deco bedroom set from my husband’s grandparents – including a two waterfall dressers, a bed, and a Lane cedar chest! To make it even more special – the chest contains the original bill of sale for all of the items from 1942!

JOSS ME! My luckiest was probably having our offer accepted on a house even though there were higher offers. The lady who owned it liked the idea of someone buying it who would live in it and take care of it, not just someone who would rent it out.
Oh, man I really want to win this one!

Some of the very best things that I own, came from Thrift Store and garage sales jaunts. It is almost as if they were waiting for me. You know what I mean….those pieces of furniture that need refinishing but scream take me home; or that perfect little decor item that fits right in. Best buy ever, is the house I currently live in. It is a decorator’s dream, and we almost didn’t take a look at it because of the poor photography and advertising!

I have lived at home until this past year when I got married! My husband and I are from Florida but we ventured out to Colorado for the summer. We got a 1 bedroom apartment to rent but the complex gave us an upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment for free! We never use the extra room but it’s nice to have more space…and two sinks!! :)

My best home improvement moment was scoring the perfect shade of paint on the reject shelf at the Blue store (where DH works!). $5 made my living room go from goldy-yellow to toothpastey blue. Loving it with white trim, brown and black leather and pops of red!

My luckiest home moment came when my (now) husband and I were looking for a place to rent to move into when we got married. He had been looking on Craigslist pretty seriously for at least a month (& even before that, but with less urgency), and he had sent me tons of links. I never really looked, but one day I just got on Craigslist & sent him one listing that I saw, and that was the one we ended up getting!

One of many luck things that I have been handed down a 175 year old iron full sized bed that is GORGEOUS. Right now it’s in the guest room, but I have dreams of having another little girl (our first girls are twins–hard to have them split the bed as inheritance) and passing it on down through her.

After months and months of searching for our perfect (or perfect-enough ;) ) first home…we we’re considering giving up. One night, on the drive home from work I discovered a cute home with a teeny tiny foreclosure sign in the window with a name of a realtor. I spoke with our current realtor and he called. 3 months later…the house was ours! It was lucky and it is perfect! :O)

As a bonus, so far my luckiest “home” moment was finding an affordable apartment with all utilities included in DC. I swear I don’t like flushing $1500+ a month down the toilet in rent! I’m hoping my next lucky moment is winning this shopping spree to decorate :)

It’s not really a home improvement per se, but we rented a house for several years from a sweet old lady. She was ready to take her cash and run, so she offered us first refusal. We happily accepted and within two years, our little neighborhood turned into one of the best places to live in. our city. A big developer came in an revamped a defunct mini mall. Its insane what we have within walking distance.
    We’ve never looked back!

Wow – luckiest moment would have to be just buying the house in the neighborhood we wanted – with a RDA loan (no mortgage insurance required), an AMAZING price since the market was low, AND we still got the $8,000 first-time home-buyer incentive before it expired. I’d say luck and good timing :)

Joss me! My “luckiest” aka blessed-set house moment was when some friends decided to give us a BUNCH (seiously, so much) of homey stuff as a “yay you got married but we didn’t get you anything because we didn’t know you yet!!!” present. Overwhelming.

JOSS ME please! We very fortunate in finding our new home. My husband and I put in an offer for the place of our dreams, but it didn’t end up working out. Thankfully, we found out that an almost identical home in the same area was being sold for less. Our offer was accepted and the rest is history. It’s now home sweet home!
