My luckiest home decorating moment was when my mother-in-law gave me a vase that my late father-in-law had bought and brought back from Greece while he was in the Navy. It doesn’t exactly match my decor but it is one of my most prized possessions and definitely the most special of all of my home decor items :)

joss me!!!!! The most recent deal I snagged was a beautiful chair for our living room. It was originally around nine hundred dollars but we found it in the clearance section, and the sales person ended up giving it to us for $399. Its super nice and has an amazing patterned fabric. Thrilled with the purchase!

    JOSS ME!! Pretty please!

My most recent lucky find was a totally cool sort of industrial farmhouse style coffee table with a wood top and iron rack underneath at a yard sale for $4!! I snapped it up, painted the wood a creamy white, sanded and distressed it, and stenciled a black number 4 on it (our family inside joke). I love it beyond words!

The luckiest home moment for me was getting a great apartment right after college. It was taken off the market for renovating during the peak of the rental market season (I live in a college town so people are always looking for an apartment for Sept). The rent was lowered and I didn’t have to pay the broker’s fee or pay last month’s rent ahead of time.

My luckiest moment happened when we replaced our front door. The manufacturer was having a 20% off sale, we were able to use my husband’s 10% military discount on top of that, and we had a coupon for 10% off the installation!! I got my dream door and love the look of my first home so much more now!

I was shopping in our downtown antiquing shops and found chest of drawers. It was art deco style and already striped down to bare wood. But the best part was that when i asked about the price it was $40! I painted it white and found some neat hardware on etsy! It is a great addition to my bedroom.

My lucky moment was in being able to buy our dream home! We found our dream home but couldn’t put an offer in until we sold ours. In the meantime, the owners had a family medical issue and the home was no longer for sale! Our awesome realtor spoke to the owners and they remembered us and sold us their home. Lucky Lucky!

I found an old, beat-up cast iron sink with drain boards on both sides at a Habitat store. I really, really wanted it to fit on our existing cabinets. I bought it, re-enameled it, and it fit perfectly!

One of my lucky moments was when we needed a new roof on our house. That doesn’t sound lucky, but a new house was being built next to ours and the owner was a carpenter. We liked the way his roof looked and he gave us the name of the guy who installed it. He did a great job, quickly, and at a fair price (something unheard of in our area).

We’ve had a ton of luck with our first home when it comes to friends who “just happen” to know how to fix/install things we need help with around the house. So far we’ve had friends help lay down tile, remove trees, and repair our hot water heater, among other things.

My luckiest home improvement score…a pottery barn rug I’d been eying in the catalog for at least two years. I received a gift card from a family member for my birthday and finally decided to take the plunge and buy it. I ordered it online and discovered it was on back order forever. In that time period I chickened out and canceled it. Shortly thereafter I was browsing the store randomly one day and found the exact same rug and size in the sale bin for a deep discount. Someone had returned it for me to find the beauty without a single defect! SCORE!
